Trader Joe's convenience foods
I'm not a huge fan of convenience foods. I would rather make things from scratch. 90% of the time I make my dinners homemade. I like the idea of freezing meals that I make to have later during the week on busy (or just lazy) nights. However, this never happens. I never have good luck with freezing and I hardly ever feel like "batch" cooking on the weekends. So usually on busy nights dh and I will just end up getting takeout or a frozen pizza. I'm wondering if Trader Joe's at least has frozen pizza's, pasta, etc, that are a little healthier than takeout or the frozen pizza's we might buy at Hannaford. Their whole thing is that they sell inexpensive, natural foods with no preservatives or crap in them right?? Any suggestions on TJ's convenience foods? I might stop in tomorrow after work to see what they have and fill my freezer.
Re: Trader Joe's convenience foods
I LOVE LOVE LOVE their Biryani. 5 minutes in a saut? pan and you have biryani. Usually, I add some chicken breasts that I've thawed out, cut up, and tossed in a curry sauce (which you can also buy from Trader Joe's if you don't want to make your own ahead of time).
They have pizzas, but I've never eaten them. They also have pizza dough, pizza sauce, etc. if you want to make your own pizzas.
They have great soups (in a box).
They have some other premade meals, but I can't think of any right now that I've had before... Most of their stuff is good, though, so have fun and try what looks good to you!
I keep a couple of black bean & rice burritos in my freezer for easy meals. They are 99% fat free or something like that. I bought polenta the other day which was quick and easy to use (I've only cooked my own before). Really, other than that, I don't get that much premade.
I love the basmati rice medley. It's probably the one reason I go to TJs every so often.
