What hotel did you stay in when you visited NYC recently? (if you don't mind my asking!)
Re: *CD*
Marriott Marquis Times Square
& we loved it!
Thank you! We're planning a big NY trip in a couple years. (I like to plan waaay ahead....actually I'm just bored at work! haha) Plus, next time we visit DH's family, I want to try to squeeze in a day or 2 in the city as a preview to our bigger vacay. hehe
I know you went for a wedding, but did you have time to check out any sights, shops or restaurants that you'd recommend?
Of course!
Times Square Bagels is AWESOME! That bagel changed my life.
We also did Tao for dinner one night. It was loud but still delicious.
We just left the hotel one day & went on our own little walking tour. It took us down Broadway, through Bryant Park & the NY Public Library (which we LOVED!), then down past Rockefeller Center, St Patricks Cathedral, Saks, etc. Then we went up to Central Park. Pretty simple, but it was nice.
I wish we would've had more time because there's so much more I want to see.
I know! I just started doing a little research this week and I already have a LIST (not a list, a LIST) of things I want to check out. I'm hoping to spend a week, but I know that still won't be long enough.
Tao looks amazing: I want it right now!
We went last weekend and stayed at the Crowne Plaza in Times Square - I think it was like 2 blocks from where CD stayed. It was nice, but I think next time we'll figure out where we're going to spend most of our time and stay near there.. Times Square was very touristy and there wasn't really a whole lot to see there after an hour or so.
I want to go back, there is still SO much I want to see and do
Since you both stayed in Times Square, did you find that it was noisy? Like from your room? I ask because when we stayed in Waikiki a few weeks ago (also a bustling city with lots of buildings packed in a small area), it was SO lound. We were up at 5am every morning from street noise.
We were on the 39th floor and we did hear some stuff - mostly just police cars/fire trucks, it wasn't loud enough that it woke us up though.
Everytime we have gone to New York we have stayed at the Union Square Inn. The rooms are tiny but they are clean and great price for NYC. We have walked to Times Square, Greenwich Village, and Central Park for there. I personally am not a fan of Times Square.

I highly recommend this food tour.

Not at all. We were on the 27th floor I think.
