Bathing Suits (ugh)

I just realized that I need a new bathing suit with my post PG and BFing body.

I've always been OK with suits with no support up top since I was small chested. After trying on a couple today I see that I need some good support.

Suggestions?

I have never had a VS suit but I saw they have a "miracle suit" that gives good support but is ungodly expensive.

Oh...and I'm looking for a one piece...obv...

Re: Bathing Suits (ugh)

  • I've always been a bigger chested girl (and big butt and thighs too) and love tankinis.  I invested in a few separate mix and match pieces from Macy's a while ago and I've definitely gotten my money's worth out of them.  I haven't had to buy a new suit in at least 4-5 years.   I like the halter style for the top because it really reigns in the girls on my figure.  Good luck!  You're reminding me of how much I hate bathing suit season!
  • I saw the title of this post and thought "Gross. Bathing Suits."

I really am not ready to even think about it!

  • I second the tankini option. I also find that two-pieces look better sometimes because they fit better and focus the eye on the colour (i.e. non-skin bits).

    Anyhow:

There's a great store in Florida called Lion's Lair from which I've bought some bathing suits. They carry brands that I know have tops that fit larger-breasted women (including tops that have underwire or reinforced fabric).

Bravissimo (online) also sells bathing suits for larger-breasted women (without the bottoms having to be larger as well).

Both those places have great customer service when you call (Bravissimo is an English company, so it's very long distance, though).

Also, Athleta (.com) has some great mix-and-match options. Title 9 (.com) also has good combos, great customer service, and fantastic reviews from real women.

    Hope that helps!

Somehow I ended up on this catalogue mailing list and they have some really nice looking ones.  I've already told MH I'm going to splurge and get one or two new suits this season, and they also have some nice looking summer dresses that look like they'd travel well.  It's time for some new clothes over here!!!

  • I have a tankini...I will have to dig it out and see if it fits.

If you have a Gap card or have ever given the Gap your address information, that's how.  They own Athleta.

  • I really like Lands End tankinis... good coverage and underwires.
  • I was also going to suggest Lands End.  The tankinis have awesome coverage (nothing from your midsection will slip out, I promise!) esp w/ the ruched designs (where the sides are gathered and you can lengthen/shorten them based on your body).  They have sales periodically online, and are sold at Sears so you can try them on.  GL - I agree that bathing suits are evil!!

  • Does anyone know if the Old Navy in So Po has bathing suits? I'm eyeing one from them for our trip next month, but was hoping to save on shipping if they have them in the store.

I was there last weekend and I am 90% sure they had bathing suits. Eli was running around like a madman so everything is a bit of a blur! :)

  • Awesome! As long as someone thinks that they are there, I can justify making the trip if it will save money (especially since there is a coupon good through today). I know I need a new suit or at least a second one for our trip and the price for ON ones is right for my budget. Means more money to spend while I'm wearing said suit!

You were right! I finally went last night before my 30% off everything coupon expired and wound up getting the suit I looked at online for only $20. Woot!
