Typically, when I fly somewhere I check a bag. And, that bag usually has all my make-up, shampoo, etc in it and I don't have to worry about meeting all those regulations of so many ounces and whatnot. When we go to Pitt in a few days, I'm not checking anything. I'm just taking a carry-on suitcase and a shoulder bag. So, I will have all my make-up, shampoo, facewash and all that jazz with me.
Question is: how do I go about doing it? Do I need to put my shampoo, conditioner, and facewash into those little bottles? What about my makeup (I don't use any liquid stuff other than eyeliner... and my moisterizer)? It just seems like a major pain in the asss to have to put all my stuff in bottles while making sure I'm taking enough. Also, do I have to put those bottles in baggies? Help!
Re: Airplane question - carry-ons
I usually buy those little carry on containers from Wal-mart - put your shampoo and conditioner in each of them -or, if you are staying at a hotel, just use the shampoo and conditioner they provide you. All liquids will have to be 3 ounces or less and you and your husband both are allowed a plastic baggy full of liquids. I don't usually put my mascara/lipstick in the little baggy and no one has ever said anything to me about it. Saline Solution does not have to follow the 3 ounce rule. Keep this stuff on the very top of your carry on so you can easily pull it out before you go through security.
Also, you can go to Wal-mart and buy small items of everything - I usually buy a travel size Clean and Clear facewash - I don't take my "normal" stuff.
Good luck and have fun!
I just flew to CO with a carry-on and back pack. I did what Stripes suggested - bought all travel-sized stuff and put that in my carry-on, and I went through without having anyone stop me and openly search my suitcase. I use powder make-up, so I brought the full-size versions of that, full-size liquid eyeliner and mascara and went through without any issues, too. It was enough to last me four days.
Have a safe trip!
