Bunny prison break

This morning, my rabbit launched himself out of his cage. To appreciate this feat, here is what his cage looks like (forgive the mess- this was from the day we built the cage so the floor is covered in scraps, and the cage has since been relocated- I swear it doesn't normally look like this!):

And he somehow hurtled his whole 11lb body out of the top of the cage. We leave the top open because when we go to the fridge for something we usually grab him some lettuce, or toss in some hay.

But this morning he just could.not.wait. to be fed, I guess!

  • Wow, super bunny! He's so cute. Smile

  • Awww....I love bunnies!  My SIL has one, and he is litter trained.  So he just roams about.  What does your dog think of the bunny?
  • Our buns is litter box trained also, he is usually only in his cage at night.

He and the dog are bffs. They play and torment each other. The dog will chase the bunny but then he turns on her and she'll run! Haha

This is too adorable.  I didn't know you had a bunny.  The ladies on this board have the most interesting animals, I love it!

I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

  • The bunny actually came before the dog! He's so cuddly, he hops up on the couch and licks people. Of course this is only after he spends an hour every day trying to break into the tupperware that holds his kibble and hay.
  • That's so funny! I've always wondered what life with a bunny would be like.
  • He's really cute! And that is an impressive cage, our bunny only has one small area that is two floors. We let him out too because he is trained, but if I don't watch him he chews up our furniture!

  • The cage was so easy and cheap to make. Target sells shelving units that you build with those metal squares, so instead we built a cage. It cost us $30 to make it. And we get rug squares really cheap at Job Lot, Building 19 or Grossman's so replace the carpet on his 2nd and 3rd floor. We call it his townhouse.
  • One of the ladies on the NorCal board refers to herself as the Crazy Bunny Lady and also has three of them.  I don't think hers like to cuddle at all though.

  • What type of bun do you have? We have four- a dutch, a lionhead, and two mixes. Two are a bonded pair and the other two are recent rescues. We made similar cages for ours as well. Are you a member of the House Rabbit Network? I love rabbits-- they are the BEST pets, and so very smart.
