What's the playground like at Merle Hay Mall?

I'm single mommin' it this weekend and would like to get the kinds out of the house. Jordan Creek and Valley West are always so packed on the weekends. Is MHM the same? Is the play area decent? And what's the crowd like on weekends? Last time I was there on a weekend - gosh I don't even remember when - it was kind of gang-ish. Is that still the case?

I won't be doing any shopping, so the playground is the only thing I'm concerned about. Thanks!

Happy mom to two sweet, silly boys: Cohen age 4, AJ age 2.

  • The play area is small-I like it better for G because of that but I don't know how long the boys will enjoy it. We've only gone during the week and during lunch it gets a bit busy, but nothing like JC.

The crowd at MHM is always a little shady....

  • I've never been but what about going to Backyard adventures or Monkey Joes... I am not really a fan of the play lands but that's probably cause Oliver is only 1 and he gets ran over by the big kids....

Yes you have. :-) We had a playdate there, silly.

I really like Merle Hay's play area. It's small and good for young toddlers.

  • I was there Thursday at 4ish and it was PACKED. I was paniced half the time because I thought Wes was going to get run over. Not sure if it is always so busy.

Agreed. We've gone occasionally before or after storytime at the library (Tues/Wed morning) and it's been okay, but there are always kids too big to be there and/or left unsupervised so their parents could shop without them. My SIL used to go there a lot and would tell me stories of Mall Security coming and having to round up all the rowdy kids and find their parents in the mall.

That being said, it'd definitely be an easy layout for AJ to play on. Most of the stuff is very low to the ground.

We went to Jordan Creek one Sunday morning before the rest of the mall opened and while there were already several families there, it wasn't bad at all.
