While I have somewhat started this online and have all my 'checklists' I know for sure I will miss things for one reason or another, when we register this weekend. I know I have posted something similar in the past so I hope you can forgive me but I can't find the darn thing.
Is there something that you didn't initially purchase or register for that would recommend adding. I will be BF (probably EP from the get go if possible), we are doing day care and will be trading off drop offs and pick ups, dh's mother will surely watch little one from time to time and so will my sister (thinking of a easy to transport back and play option but am really not sure on this one). We are having a girl. Ummmmm and I guess that is all I can think of right now.
A good example would be that my friend suggested picking up disposable bibs for when they are out and about, she doesn't use them often but has found them pretty useful, or how everyone loves to use cloth diapers as burp clothes.
Oh or anything you thought was a waste and if you don't mind why. My sister swears she used the diaper stacker but I know others that said they totally did not.
Re: Moms - registering
I wouldn't by disposable bibs, they seem like a waste to me.
I made this blog post here about baby stuff:
http://jessicalea81.blogspot.com/2010/10/baby-gear.htmlThough I have receiving blankets on the list, I wouldn't go crazy buying them I bought so many packs and only used them for like a month or so. Don't buy any bibs, because you are going to get a TON at your shower and from gifts!
Def, get a jumper, exersaucer, swing, and a boppy or the breastfriend pillow. Def. a diaper genie!
Pack and play, I loved the travel one, but the big one we never use, maybe we will use it as she gets older, but right now I don't see us using it all, other then a diaper changing table in our family room.
Thanks, I wondered about the bibs because I hate to be wasteful any more than necessary.
That post is great!!!!
Hey thanks.

And I agree with Puggs, we have a billion recieving blankets that we stopped using after like 3 months. 8 billion bibs which wasn't actually bad to me but that's without registering for ANY.
C only has an exersaucer at my mom's house (where he is every day) - we just don't have room for one. He didn't have a jumper but might have liked one. Playmat is a must. I think even just a basic pack and play is a must - you gotta have a safe place to stick the kid if you have to run throw laundry in or even just get a drink.
I try to think often of things that were a waste but I don't really feel that way about anything we registered for/received. I'll think more.
I LOVE the swaddle-me blankets - they're much easier then using regular blankets for swaddling. I had two of each size so I could always have one if one was in the wash.
I know I have a while but can I get that e-mail too. I am a an obsessive planner and this is already worrying me.

Not a mom, but I do remember one thing some of my mom friends said.
I know one thing a few of my mom friends mentioned to me is for swings borrow one from someone (or buy one that is gently used) if you can first and see if your LO likes them. I've had several moms say that they felt they wasted money on those becasue their LO hated being in them and they became a catch all for baby clothes instead.

I've heard this too! My sisters both said one kid loved the swing while the other hated it but loved the vibrating bouncy thingy, yet the 1st kid hated that.
Umm yeah you can tell I am not a mommy yet
Of course! Just PM me your email address!
Dani when will you be doing yours. Can I stalk your registry or is that super weird. A few girls on my local are also pregnant and I totally look at theirs for ideas because I feel a little lost (even with all the great recs here and Baby Bargains)
Dani, YGM at the address you normally send me things from...your maiden name yahoo...
Probably won't do mine until at least next month. And then I plan to do two trips....one with a friend who recently had a baby (because I need help)...and then I'll go back later with Rob for the bigger stuff. You can stalk it all you want. I feel like this will not be nearly as fun as registering for a wedding. This feels completely overwhelming!
Got it. Thanks Summer.
I totally stalked the registry of my friend who had her baby 3 months before C was born.
And yes, it's SO overwhelming and stressful, IMO. I felt so much pressure to get the best thing but also affordable. I was all MY CHILD IS GOING TO BE USING THIS IT HAS TO BE SAFE AND THE BEST!!!! And there's a billion brands of everything it seems like. I poured over baby bargains and the internet reviews for effing months.

YGPM and Mail!
I thought that the bottle warmer was a waste of money -- just use an electric teakettle or microwave to heat water in a mug, then warm the bottle that way. Also, a baby food cooker / prep. I made baby food once, and I microwaved a sweet potato, then mashed it w/ a fork. No fancy gadget necessary.
If you plan to EP, My Brest Friend won't be especially helpful, but if you plan to try nursing, then definitely splurge on it and take it to the hospital with you.
Our swing swings back and forth and side to side, just in case Jacob didn't like it one way; his preference actually changed as he grew, so I'm glad we got it.
Ditto the receiving blankets. If you don't get a zillion from friends, email me and I'll send you the zillion we have that we never used! (but of course washed, so they couldn't be returned)
Jacob loved the swaddleme blankets, and they're easier to use than the miracle blanket (IMO), so we got extras of those in case he had a midnight accident. Also, extra crib sheet savers & changing table liners. We had so many leaking accidents in the beginning b/c he didn't fit the newborn diapers but we didn't know that they were leaking b/c of poor fit.
These are awesome thanks you guys!!
*Dan*i it is soooo overwhelming and while I sort of felt like that with the wedding it was way different. I feel like I will be looking at my registry praying that certain things get purchased. We have already spent a great deal (I guess that sounds selfish but it's the truth).
ps I take my Baby Bargain with me everywhere LOL
Between the amazing lists from the ladies on here, and one from my boss... and just sitting down and reading reviews of EVERYTHING on amazon and BRU and baby bargains book. It took me around a week to go through everything and figure out what we want/need. Even once I got to making the actually registry out of everything I bookmarked, I was still rechecking some research and making changes.
If you want to see our registries just let me know I can PM you the information/email you a list.
