Heather

Have you been doing any new crafty stuff?

Im still working on a baby blanket, I hope to finish my the end of the weekend.  All I have left to do is the blanket binding, but Im so nervous to start!

Re: Heather

  • I have done a few cards I had to finish as part of the design team I am on. I really need to get back to it but just haven't felt like it lately. I really need to start on some scrapbooks too. You will do great on the binding and I know it will turn out beautiful.

  • Im going to try your marshmallow fondant recipe to make my birthday cake next week.  Do you know how far in advance I could make it?  And, was it ok in your mixer (it wasnt too rough on it)?

Can I add the food coloring while it's mixing, or do I have to incorporate it into the fondant in the last step?

How hard is it to cover a cake in fondant?

    Sorry for all the questions!

  • I made my fondant a couple of days before I needed it. It was not too hard on the mixer, just make sure to crisco all the metal parts to help the fondant not stick a whole lot. I guess you could add the coloring while it is in the mixer, but I think it would be better if you kneaded it in plus that helps make sure your fondant is well mixed. I never covered a cake in fondant, but watching videos it does not seem that hard, just take your time. You do have to cover the cake in icing first before putting fondant on and then roll your fondant out linger then what you need and then smooth and cut off extra. I found YouTube was a big help on working with fondant. Can't wait to see your creation.
