::Updated:: Fire near my parents' house
Mom called me right before I left to talk to the employment agency about this job. They had just evacuated because there was a fire right across the street. There aren't houses over there, just pine forest.
My parents have been living with my grandparents while they are between houses. My dad and grandpa went to check on the house a few minutes ago, and it's still ok. The fire's not over yet, but so far, so good. Some of their neighbors have been allowed back into their homes, but they have not yet.
Update:
They are back in the house. The fire did not cross the street, but spread down to the right (of the picture) about the length of 4 large lots, jumped across the divided highway, and continued for a while. But, there were no homes in that path, just forest. They still don't know the cause. All you can see in her pictures is smoke because the fire is out. The firefighters are going to stay on site overnight, though. This picture is looking down their driveway from the back of the lot. That's their carport to the right.

Wow, how scary! I'm so glad they and their house are ok.
Question - how close is Bastrop to Paige? My in-laws are in Paige, but I recall going to Bastrop when we visited a few years ago and I thought the towns were rather close....my mind could be failing me though.
