West coast ladies

Have you been hearing anything on your news about the radioactive particles on the west coast?

Do you have have to take any kind of precautions in case this progresses?

I was watching the news earlier this week, and they did a story on Chernobyl all these years later.  It is a complete wasteland, devastating.  I really hope it doesnt get that bad in Japan.

Re: West coast ladies

  • Just saw an article on this...it said the particles reached So. Cal but don't appear to be harmful.
  • I haven't heard anything about it.  I don't watch the local news much, but I would think that the ladies on the Seattle board would be talking about it if they'd said anything around here.

  • Oh, good to know not much is going on with it in your part of the country!
  • bill nye (the science guy!) was interviewed about this and he said that by the time it gets to CA, any amount of radiation would be equal to or less than that of a dental xray.

Interesting!  I wonder if it would harm any crops or livestock.

not much has been said here. apparently Guam EPA doesnt have a radiation specialist so they were bringing one from the states. this newspaper article mentions "Samples of Guam's air will be collected today and sent to a laboratory in Montgomery, Ala., so they can be analyzed for radioactivity." so in the mean time, we're all just not breathing ;) jk.

we are receiving sailors from japan and i'm sure we'll receive evacuees as well. sadly, i'm sure there are some japanese citizens who are STUCK here for the time being (i.e. they were on vacation when the disaster happened and cannot get home)
