Re: anyone ever sold books to half price?
Yeah don't really bother unless you're ok getting next to nothing for them. I did better on half.com.
my read shelf:
They've been hit or miss for me. A couple times I got fantastic offers for my books, a couple times were big disappointments.
I've always had good luck selling old books on eBay and Amazon. People buying books online will pay good prices for what they want!
thanks everyone. I think maybe we'll take a bunch in, and if we're not happy with their offer, we'll bring them home and do the half.com or amazon thing.
We're trying to clean out the 3rd bedroom (which had become much like the house's junk drawer, lol), and there are 4 bookshelves FULL of books. I'm sure there are plenty we could pare down.
I think we're going to do a garage sale this spring too, so I can always get rid of a bunch there.
In my opinion Half price books is only worth it for two reasons- 1. if you've tried selling them online and it's a no go and 2. if you are just trying to clear some space in your house. As a forewarning I wouldn't expect more than a few bucks for each box of books...
We had a garage sale last summer and the books went fast. I priced them at 50 cents for a paperback and $1 for a hardcover. I couldn't believe how fast they sold.
Tired after a long morning of hiking and swimming.
My books always sell at garage sales. I think I got $10 for 30 current popular books at Half. At that point it's better off donating it and taking it off taxes.
