Woken up by a random drunk person at 3 a.m.!

We were woken up at 3 this morning by an intoxicated woman, who was banging on the church door across the street.  She kept staggering around the church steps and banging hard on the door, as if someone would come and open it for her. She did this for a good 15-20 min. I wouldn't doubt if there was something else going on with her other than alcohol. She acted very much as if she was out of her mind.

I was afraid she might sit down, pass out, and get hypothermia, so I called the police station.  As soon as I put the phone down, she came off the steps toward my house.  My husband and I ducked around the corner to watch where she was going.  In that split second, she was gone.

The police came and went through the  neighborhood looking for her, but could not find her. My suspicion is that she went into someone's porch or garage. With the way that she was banging and pulling on the church door, she wanted to get IN somewhere.

I couldn't sleep after that. I was worried that she had fallen somewhere or passed out somewhere. How strange that she was out of sight in just a few seconds.

Now I am wide awake, yet tired.

Re: Woken up by a random drunk person at 3 a.m.!

  • Why did you wait 15-20 minutes to call the police?
  • Before we even saw her, we had laid in bed asking each other if we had heard something. We then couldn't figure out where it was coming from, since we have huge trees in front of our house blocking the view.
  • Sorry, I just get a little crazy when I drink.  I didn't get hypothermia.  All's good.  Thanks for looking out for me though.
