Party Menu - Look ok?

You ladies are so great at this so I thought I'd post my planned menu for next Saturday's party for Jerred's 40th Birthday. We have about 15 adults and 4 kids old enough to eat regular food. And 2 adults and 2 kids are vegetarians. Here's my plan:

Apps
Cheese & Crackers
Vegetable Tray
Sweet & Sour Meatballs
Nacho dip or spinach/artichoke dip

Dinner
Chicken Wings
Shredded Pork lettuce wraps
Broccoli & Shells
(I need another easy vegetarian side dish)

Dessert
Birthday Cupcakes
Something else (not sure yet but there will be something!)

Let me know what you all think! Thanks ladies!

  • that all sounds yummy! there is a place here in DC that makes sesame green beens that are so, so good (and i am not a big green bean fan). this recipe looks similar:

  • Cheeky - I make something similar to those! My cousin in MA gave me the recipe, so easy and so yummy. Just worried about quantity with a large group. I might go with some kind of tomato salad - tomato, cucumber, peppers, etc.

Yeah, or add some black beans for some protein.

  • sounds good! i like the tomato salad idea too.

my go to side dish is a pasta salad. i use pasta (obviously!), tomato, olive, cucumber, feta cheese and greek dressing (not the creamy kind).

  • I think you need something else for the vegetarians as a "main" dish.  Just shells and broccoli I don't think is enough.  I have zero suggestions for you as to what to make for them though....
  • Ok so since I don't know many vegetarians, I'm not sure if they eat dairy (I think vegans don't right?) , but what about a veggie quiche or similar? That way they are getting the egg as a protein?
  • Thanks ladies! I like the idea of adding the green beans to the tomato salad, have to decide if flavors will work together.

And found awesome pineapple upside down cupcakes to make - my husband's fav cake but easier to serve! And another nestie suggested maybe a chocolate fondue, so I might do that w/ the cupcakes.

Yay! Thanks for all the great ideas ladies!
