Puppy Cake Mold or similar ideas

Does anyone know where I could find a cake mold that is the shape of a puppy or a dog face? Or, no of anywhere online that has ideas for a dog cake? I'd like to do a puppy theme for DD's 1st bday - she's in love with our dog and I figure it's one of the most recognizable things for her. Otherwise, we might do cupcakes decorated with flowers - I know, these ideas are pretty different.

TIA!

  • Michael's or Hobby Lobby would be my first bet.  I'm sure Wilton has a branded cake pan in the shape of a dog.

  • We have a black lab, I totally know :)

    What about something like this?

Just a round cake, plus maybe a bread pan cake cut for ears?  It's all in the decorating.

  • I love Molly's idea- too cute!!  If you still want to look for a cake pan- I needed to make a puppy cake a few years ago and did a lot of research.  The only thing I could come up with (I am admittedly not creative and need a pan- lol) was the Wilton ladybug pan.  If you look on Wilton's website they have alternate decorations for their pans and one of them was how to turn the ladybug into a puppy.  Happy cake making!!
  • The cake Molly posted is super cute!  I would also check the Urbandale library.  They check out cake pans, so you could use one for free instead of buying a new one from Michael's or Hobby Lobby.

  • I did a puppy theme for my son's 1st Birthday. I had my cake made but I included the link to my blog post about it. There are also other puppy theme ideas in the post.

  • One of the decorated cupcakes I made for Ana's birthday party was a puppy.

I used caramel for the ears and piped the nose eyes and tongue on. I used a star tip to make fur on it by pulling it away and letting it flop over.

This exactly.  I just checked out the ladybug one this weekend, actually, as we're using it for Z's party on Sunday.  They had LOTS of different pans -- including some flower-shaped ones.  I don't remember if there were puppy ones, but I'm guessing so.  It's a great service that they offer!

  • Thanks so much for the reminder about the Urbandale library program! These are all great ideas - I feel much better now! Thanks!!
