Where should I look to find inexpensive, fabric roman shades? I think this is what I want in our bathroom, and maybe in the kitchen too. Everywhere I've looked (BBB, JCP) they are all 64" long. I do not need that long of a shade, my windows are only about 40" tall. Am I missing something about roman shades on the length? I just want a pale blue color for the bath, and white/black/or light blue for the kitchen. Both, especially the kitchen (it's above the sink) need to be washable. Does such a thing exist?

Re: Roman shades?
If you want a shorter roman shade, then you will have to custom order it. The standard ones all come that length. You could make one, but I think they look like a lot of work. The ones we have (all from JCP) aren't washable. If you made it, you could maybe work it out to make them washable, but you would have to completely take the mechanics apart to do it.
Here is a link to a temporary shade I made for our bathroom. It's a tie up curtain using ribbon. You could do something like this really inexpensively if you want a shade look versus curtains. I just put it up with a small tension rod. I winged it, but could attempt to give you directions (or maybe make them myself??) if you want!
