We dropped off SD yesterday morning and on our way home (on I-40), traffic was slowing down and swerving like crazy - there was a little dog running against traffic IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSTATE. The husband yanked the car over to the side of the road, got out of the car and started chasing after it. He didn't even put the car in park! I got the car stopped, the husband is racing down the center of the interstate chasing the dog and thankfully several wonderful, wonderful people stopped to help him - several people were in the middle of the interstate trying to get traffic (including large semis) to stop so Husband could get the dog. Finally, he caught up to the dog. Both of them were a wreck. The dog had a cell phone cord wrapped around its neck.
We took the dog to Petco and they were kind enough to bathe her even though we didn't have vaccination records. We put her in our backyard yesterday while we planted flowers in the front yard. The cats are....unsure. She slept in our middle bedroom last night. She is eating well, has done lots of poops, and has barked a few times. My husband and the dog are In Love. She has lots of ticks, her paws are a tad bloody but she has lots of spunk. We dropped her off at the vet - she is 10 weeks old and 13 pounds - she will be huge.
I am not a dog person at all - we have two cats - but how can I resist - so..here's a picture of our new addition! Taking name suggestions!

Re: Well, we now own a dog. ((long story))
OMG!! Thank you so much for rescuing that sweet baby!! I can only imagine how scared she was running down I-40! Despite not being a dog person you guys should be very proud of the awesome thing that you did.
I think she looks like a Harley or Molly.
As far as names (since these two names have been suggested a lot) - the husband has vetoed Coco and Chanel. Boo.
Someone else suggested Mischka.
She's totally adorable - you guys are amazing for rescuing her.
I like Molly or Mischka. I can't get much more creative past those suggestive names - our dogs have Hawaiian names. :P
You all did such a great thing saving that puppy's life. As for names I like Mischka as previously stated.
OMG!! I love it - duh!!!! What a great name!!!

My coworkers are trying to convince me to bring her to work tomorrow. I am not sure what the Big Boss would think of that. I am sure if he walked in here and I had a dog flopped out on my floor he would have a heart attack......
Maybe you could name her after a street or a city on I-40, where you found her.
Amarillo?
Ha ha! If you do that, you've got to call me so I can come see her too! And the look on your boss's face!
