Old Navy Western Hills

DH and I were out shopping last night and saw that the ON in the Western Hills Plaza closed.  We couldn't believe it.  It just said thank you for the past 10 years and to visit there other locations.

Has anyone else heard about this?  Anyone know why they closed?

Re: Old Navy Western Hills

  • Aw that's sad :(.  I had not heard but also haven't been over there in about a month.  I thought that plaza was finally starting to turn around again with the Super Target going in and updates to the B&BW...
  • I  hadn't heard that they had closed, but this same thing happened to the Tri-County location last year.  I went there and it was shut down, w/ the same note on the door.  The closest one to me is now in either Kenwood or Rookwood Commons.  I like Rookwoods Commons better b/c they are larger and I always feel like they have a better variety.

  • The westside is going through a revamp it seems.  The deal is the same thing behind Texas Roadhouse, Champions and Pirates Den.  The guy who owns these buildings decided to jack up rent for businesses once their contract was up.  I think we are going to see a bunch more problems soon.

  • We were over at Glencrossings to hit up Izzy's on St. Patrick's Day and parts of that strip mall were a ghost town! I asked the lady at Izzy's what was going on and she said exactly what pp mentioned - that rents had been jacked way up and so tenants were closing or moving elsewhere.

That's so tragic to me b/c it seemed like the West side worked so hard to get cleaned up and attract those businesses in the first place.

  • michael's craft store is going in there, and as of now ON has no plans to relocate Sad

    1) I envy you.  I soooo wanted some Izzy's on St. Patty's day and to my demise the closest one to me was in West Chester and I didn't feel like driving 20 mins each way.

    2) Glencrossing has been a ghost town for a number of years...like...at least 10 that I can remember.  I feel like you can only raise rent if there's a big demand for the space.  Unfortunately many of the plazas on the west side are very empty :(.

  • That stinks.  They closed the downtown Victoria's Secret a few weeks ago and I thought I was going to have a panic attack!  All that's left downtown is Macy's and TJ maxx!

I'm sad about ON but super excited Michael's is going there!  The west side has so many EMPTY strip malls yet they keep builiding new building and more strip malls.  I just don't get it.

  • That's too bad.  My parents both grew up out that way & the area is in constant change, sometimes good, sometimes not.

I agree, but traffic is such an enormous pain in the a$$ at Rookwood!! :)

  • I worked for Old Navy and they closed becuase the lease was up and Michaels out bid Old Navy and Old Navy was planning on down sizing and the people that they lease from didn't like that...by the way, they have been looking for a place to relocate!

  • That guy is such an a$$ and I hope he gets the bad karma that's coming to him... He's ruining the West Side for his own financial gain, and while it's sad to see some places go, I'm glad that they are standing up and not succumbing to his greedy demands!  It's just plain ridiculous at this point!  I don't understand how he thinks owning a bunch of empty buildings is better than having tenants!
