Last night as we were coming home the police were on our street right in front of our house.  As I got closer I saw a deer laying on the ground.  Her legs were all tucked under, and she was looking around.  There was a car stopped that must have hit her, and police.  DH insisted that they were going to shoot the deer.  They did.  I was so so so upset.  I was holding out hope that maybe some animal control person would be coming to take her, but after some more police showed up I heard the gun shots.  It was so scary, and so sad.

    Is it really THAT time consuming and take that much effort to give her a shot to put her to sleep? I mean, WTF?

    I was so upset.  DH thinks I am crazy.  He kept saying "what did you think was going to happen?"  I was holding back tears, and he thought I was overreacting.

    I would be pissed if I saw/heard that.

    MA is a pretty wealthy state.  Trust me, ACO could afford to have run a shot out there.

    I tear up when I see a dead squrriel on the side of the road so I totally understand.  So sad :(

    That is so sad. I would have reacted the same way, especially if the deer was still conscious and loooking around when you saw it.
