Hi girls! I hope everyone is well. I have a question for moms and mom to be's. I have been shedding hair like crazy lately and then this weekend I looked in the mirror and saw I was noticably losing hair in and around my forehead line. Has anyone had this happen? What did you do?
It is bad right now. I don't even want to put my hair up or back because you can really notice on the sides of my forehead. DH has been the only other one I have shown.
I did call the Dr just in case it had to do with the new pill they put me on (the low estrogen one for breast feeding mothers). She said it is very common, but may also indicate something is going on with my thyroid. I did have my thyroid checked before I got pregnant for other reases so that got me nervous too. I have an appt today to see my pcp and then tomorrow I will probably have some labs run on my thyroid, but thought I would ask if anyone had any experience. TIA
Re: Hair Loss Question
You are 4 months PP aren't you?! IT SUCKS!
I had major hair loss for about 2 months. It is now growing back and I have little hairs sticking up all over.
As far as I know there isn't anything you can really do. It is just a hormonal thing that most people go through. Sorry to tell you.
Yup, he turned 4 months yesterday
I just started noticing it and that is why it struck me odd. I had heard about it, but thought it would happen while I was pregnant or right after. I am ok if I know it is coming back, but until then my hair is staying down!
Yep, mine started around 4 month pp and peaked around 6 months but then tappered quickly. It was really bad along my hair line and now I have all these short little hairs where it is starting to grown back...
I had major hair loss issues. I would be in tears in the shower and drying my hair because I would just pull out clumps of hair. I have thick hair and my ponytail was probably half the thickness. H said I should be happy because I always complained about the thickness of my hair
My PCP said it is VERY common but still checked for thyroid issues. Everything came back fine.
When I went to get my hair done, my hair dresser said she could notice a difference but its very common among women. She said my hair loss was nothing compared to some of her clients. She had a client that had bald spots all over her head.
I can't remember when mine stopped but it eventually did. Now I have the lovely baby hairs sticking up everywhere.
I don't have any bald patches or issues like you, but I am losing my hair like crazy STILL a year later. My hair was thick to begin with, so I think that's why I don't notice it on my head, but I'm seriously shedding worse than our dogs. My stray hairs are all over the house somehow.
I think it's pretty common and I don't have any thyroid issues that I know of.
