Dyson Animal ?

So does anyone own a Dyson Animal cannister?  We're looking to buy a cannister vacuum, and we're trying to figure out what the differences are between the Animal and the regular (besides the $100 in price) and beside the extra attachments.  Do the attachments make that big of a deal?

We have a longhaired Setter.  We also have all hard wood floors except for one rug.

Re: Dyson Animal ?

  • I bought a Bissell Pet Hair Eraser Vacuum about 2 months ago, which is bagless, and I LOVE IT!! Way more affordable than a Dyson and because I have a friend who lent me her Dyson I can say that they seem to work just about the same. The ONLY difference is that the Bissell is rather heavy, but for nearly a third of the price of a Dyson I am okay with that. I have two dogs who shed like crazy. I vacuum every 2-3 days.
  • We have the Dyson Animal and we love it. We've had it for several years. I think the main difference is that the Animal has a stronger beater bar (the rotating brush). It's really nice that it comes with a hand-held attachment with beater bar, we use it all the time for stairs and furniture.
  • We have a Dyson Animal and honestly don't use too many of the attachments.  Our dogs aren?t allowed on our furniture so we don't vacuum that too frequently.  For the stairs we just use the narrowed tube that I'm sure is standard with all models.
