spreading myself too thin?

so i currently have a full-time job 7:45-4:15 monday through friday and also shoot a lot of weddings on the weekend (so far i have 22 scheduled for this year) i can easily afford the new house and my school loans but that doesnt leave much leftover since i basically make minimun wage at my full-time job even though i have my bachelors degree. the wedding money i promised myself i would save up specifically for MY wedding so i dont want to tap into that. I interviewed yesterday for a part-time job working nights 5-10pm to save for a car (mines currently a 1990 i bought 3 years ago for $400 which has lasted longer than expected AND survived a complete cross country roadtrip!) but its on its last leg and theres no way it will make it through another winter, im surprised it lasted through all the storms we've had so far! so the thing with the part-time job, they offered it to me on the spot but im afraid they're going to want me to work almost every night and they want me to work weekends too. which would be fine execpt id be doing double duty constantly and im afraid ill never get a day off and be completely exhausted all the time. i wish i could find a secure job in my field that paid decent so i wouldnt have to work 3 jobs constantly its SO frustrating. well im just venting. thanks for listening :/

I think three jobs is too much, unless you like working and staying busy. But I recall thinking how I should just sleep at the office so I wouldn't have to spend $$ on rent. That's when you know you're working too much. How about finding a new day job that paid more?

  • yea, ive been looking but hadnt had much luck. then out of the blue TODAY on my way back from the drug test (for the part-time job i mentioned) I got a call for an interview later today for a full time management position! wish me luck!
  • Do you just take the photos?  I would think a photographer would need time during the week to do all the software stuff to the photos, set up meetings with clients and potential clients, and make albums let alone do the books and other business stuff.  Which would make a third job out of the question.

  • Some people can pull this off, but it sounds absolutely exhausting to me.  I think I would look for areas I could cut spending rather than adding yet another job.  I suggest posting your budget over on the Money Matters board--those ladies are really good at helping people cut their budget and save more.

  • thanks. I  might actually get the full-time higher paying job i interviewed for yesterday, they invited me back tonight for a second interview! as for the weddings, i do edit all the pictures, but theres 3 of us that shoot so one of the other guys does all the meetings with clients, so its a few hours here and there of editing throughout the week but doesnt take up too much time. it actually makes time fly by, i dont mind editing at all :)

anyways, wish me luck and good vibes for round 2 Interview tonight!

  • Good luck on your FT interview tonight!
  • Good luck and I hope you get that FT job with higher pay!  Also, kudos to you for being so determined and motivated!
