Kristen

Is Margot allergic to the milk and soy proteins? My friend's daughter is and my friend was having such a hard time cutting that out of her diet while nursing, and she was getting ready to go back to work, so she switched her daughter to formula but was so sad about it. Her pedi actually recommended it. I hope it goes well for you and Margot!

Re: Kristen

  • I'm pretty sure she has a sensitivity to it. My nephew has a sensitivity to dairy, soy, wheat, and gluten. All the symptoms he had, Margot was having and they started at the same time as his did. Also, my Mom made homemade mac n cheese while she was here and the 2 nights we ate it, Margot was completely inconsolable!! A few days later, I had lasagna and she was inconsolable again. So, I cut back 2 weeks ago and started completely cutting it out a week ago and she has improved a ton already!!! It takes a few weeks to get the cow milk protein out of my system and more time to get out of her system, but I'm already happy with the strides we've made and my happy baby is returning! I'm still not sure if I need to cut out hidden dairy (which is in a lot of things), so I'm trying to cut it all out and will maybe try some hidden dairy later on and see how she does. Apparently, a lot of babies are sensitive to dairy and most grow out of it - some by 6 months.

  • Oh and it will definitley take some getting used to because I love cheese!!!!!! I did find dairy free ice cream that is made from coconut milk and it's actually very yummy!

  • Yeah, the hidden dairy would be problematic for me. My friend couldn't eat french fries at a restaurant because they were fried in soy oil. There's just so much to think of, but I'm sure once you have it in your head it gets easier.

And yay for dairy free ice cream!

  • Ya, I've pretty much conceded to the fact that we won't be able to go out to eat much anymore. I think Seasons 52 is accommodating. There's definitley a learning curve and a lot of label reading!

  • Wow! That is a tough change but it sounds like Margot is responding well. Hopefully she will grow out of it so you can once again enjoy the cheesy goodness Stick out tongue
