Opinions: sent home early

H has been at odds with the boss, mistakes have been made - some are totally his fault, others were the higher ups not communicating changes to project plans.

H made a mistake today again based on incorrect plans and was sent home. Boss told him to call him in the morning

He's freaking out (and frankly so am I) that he's going to be fired.

Thoughts? Advice?

Re: Opinions: sent home early

  • I work in HR and there are plenty of times that we send home employees for insubordination, critical mistakes and investigations.

Without knowing more details, it's hard to say if he'll be fired.

Also, not sure if your state is an employment at will state

  • What PP poster said makes sense but that probably isn't going to make you sleep better.  Think positively!

  • If your DH has remote access to email or other work systems it would not be a bad idea for him to log in tonight and print out relevant emails, employment reviews, etc in case he does lose his job and can no longer access them.
