Anyone watch How I Met Your Mother *spoilers maybe*
I'm totally confused from last night's episode. I thought Barney didn't know who his dad was at all. Didn't he think it was a black man one episode? Then last night he knew his dad until he left, but was little?
Huh?? Am I missing something?

i couldn't remember the deal with the letter either...i just assumed i was missing something. he did think that black dude was his dad one episode then found out it wasn't. i'm wondering if somehow he found his dad's address somehow (??) and wrote him a letter in an episode i can't remember.
HIMYM has gotten awfully deep this season...i mean, it's still good, but i think i enjoy the comedy more.
HIMYM has gotten deep recently!! I like the shallow comedy better.
Didnt he find an address when he was cleaning out his moms house when she was moving?
I dont understand how he thought his dad as bob barker, then a black dude, but remembers hanging out with that guy
I agree - I was so upset with the Marshall's dad episode. I cried forever. I really prefer this show to be lighthearted.
I'm just so confused on the dad situation.
Ok so first they found an address at his Mom's house the same episode that they found his brother's dad (the black guy). Then they went to the museum party where Ted met the Captain (Zoe's exH now) and Barney got taken to the security office where they pulled the file from him knocking down the whale when he was little and the guy that signed the form put down that he was Barney's father and Barney said "No, that was my Uncle. Uncle Jerry" but then realizes that the guy disappeared after that and probably is his father.
I'm a little foggy on the exact chain of events but that's how I seem to remember it.
I miss the old days when the show was funny. Now it feels like they're trying way too hard and making every episode super dramatic.
Oh, yes!!! You are so right. This makes me feel so much better. Thanks, Madame! By the way we've been watching Mad Love & Traffic Light - those are pretty good new lighthearted shows. Oh, and Raising Hope. Those three are passing by HIMYM for me.
Good memory! I had forgotten a lot of that. I think Barney sent the letter soon after Marshall's dad died.
I actually like the more serious story line. Maybe it is just hitting close to home for me. I like that they can cover serious topics as well. I think Barney's scenes with his dad are some of the most poignant of the show, and I totally LOLed when Barney tried to hammer the basketball net with the screwdriver.
