In my class, we sometimes do what we call transformations, which is where you take a simple object and change it into a completely different picture. Last week, we did shamrocks for St. Patty?s day, and like usual I hung them on the clothesline around my room. Yesterday, I heard a few boys laughing, and then heard one say, ?That just doesn?t look right.? I played it cool, waited until they had forgotten about it, and then went to see what they were laughing about. Apparently, my mind isn?t in the gutter, because I didn?t even notice this last week. It?s supposed to be a fish.

This is what Robin said. If she had colored it orange or purple or something, it wouldn't have been so bad, but the tan is killing me. That and the line from the bottom of the shamrock which makes it clearly look like a penis head.

Yea kids have no clue and it's hard not to make a deal out of it sometimes. The little girl I nanny who is 8 was making Play-doh cupcakes and putting candles on top. All the candles looked like penises. Her mom came home and she showed her and her mom was like "Oh those are nice" and her eyes were huge. So funny.

Stand up for something you believe in.
You're so much smarter than me, Mary. I've just been calling it penis fish.
I was trying to make it PC. hahahahaha
Stand up for something you believe in.
So, ironically enough, these came up in my Google Reader. You could totally have these at a themed party.
On a more serious note...Perhaps to play on Mary's idea, have them make up names for 'new' fish. Like in the abyss. Or that really deep area near Japan... Mariana Trench. I think it would be cool to name fish that we haven't discovered.

Smo, get out of my brain! We've actually been studying oceanography, because we're going to the aquarium for our field trip. We talked about bioluminescence and animals that live near hydrothermal vents and the kids had to "discover" a new deep sea creature. They named them and wrote poems about their adaptations. They were pretty hilarious.
Yeah. I'd love to work in your school. That sounds super fun. We are definitely in sync today!
ETA: This is the blog post. The octopus balloon is really cute:

They might have fun with things like this. Maybe blue frosted cupcakes, or fish cookies.

Aww, I love that balloon. I want those fruit kabobs, NOW.
This just made my day.
