I was seeing Dr. Henehan in Loveland, and for multiple reasons we are now looking for a new vet for our 2 year old Tabby and 3 month old Boxer Mix.
We live in Norwood and would love someone close, within like 20 minutes would be perfect.
Re: Rec your Vet
We see Dr. (Terry) Henehan in Old Milford; next to Lehr's meats. He is the brother of your vet, but they are not (from what I gather) amicable and have very different approaches/ demeanor. That being said, I love him. He has always gone above and beyond for us. There have been quite a few times he has stayed late to squeeze us in. One two occasions, he has even opened up on Sundays to treat our dogs in emergencies so that we didn't have to go to the e-vet. I don't feel that he pushes unnecessary meds or testing.
Another thing I really like about him is that you always see him, not someone else in the practice. He does have vet techs, but he does almost all of the work himself (blood draws, shots, suturing, etc). The vet techs are very personable and they seem to like it there, as there is very little turnover. The one I typically deal with has been there the 5+ years we have had our oldest dog. He and his staff really learn who you and your dog are and remember you when you come in. I know he's not super close to Norwood, but he's not too far either. Their website is www.henehandanimalhospital.com Good luck!
Is Dr. Heekin's first name Amy by any chance? With my first dog, I used to see Dr. Amy Heekin at Tennessee Avenue AH and I was wondering if she separated from that practice. I liked her a lot but that practice was chaotic and I kind of blame them for my first dog's death.
My mom and I have been using Dr. Smith at VCA Animal Hospital (College Hill) for YEARS. Actually, make that decades, because I think we've been going there for close to 20 years (and yes, that makes me feel old saying that!)
If you're in Norwood, it's within your 20 minute timeframe. But just so you know, I live near Anderson and make the trip over there for both my dog and my cat (easily a 45-minute trip). Love the staff, love all the vets there, I recommend them to everyone
We go to Eastgate Animal Hospital. We've seen a few of the vets there and they've all been great with our kitties. The one has had a couple of health issues since we've been going there (abscessed teeth, and acne of all things) and they've made sure he's well taken care of. The vets all seem to genuinely love our animals, their prices are reasonable, and they have a vet on call 24/7. We've used that service, too, and the vet on call contacted us in a timely manner.
Of course, we started going there because they're 10 minutes from home (I'd be hard-pressed to find a vet that's worth a much longer car ride with my loudmouth wailing kitty) but we've kept going there because we're impressed with their service.
