Rec your Vet

I was seeing Dr. Henehan in Loveland, and for multiple reasons we are now looking for a new vet for our 2 year old Tabby and 3 month old Boxer Mix.

We live in Norwood and would love someone close, within like 20 minutes would be perfect.

Re: Rec your Vet

  • We see Dr. (Terry) Henehan in Old Milford; next to Lehr's meats.  He is the brother of your vet, but they are not (from what I gather) amicable and have very different approaches/ demeanor.  That being said, I love him. He has always gone above and beyond for us.  There have been quite a few times he has stayed late to squeeze us in.  One two occasions, he has even opened up on Sundays to treat our dogs in emergencies so that we didn't have to go to the e-vet.  I don't feel that he pushes unnecessary meds or testing.

Another thing I really like about him is that you always see him, not someone else in the practice.  He does have vet techs, but he does almost all of the work himself (blood draws, shots, suturing, etc).  The vet techs are very personable and they seem to like it there, as there is very little turnover. The one I typically deal with has been there the 5+ years we have had our oldest dog. He and his staff really learn who you and your dog are and remember you when you come in. I know he's not super close to Norwood, but he's not too far either.  Their website is www.henehandanimalhospital.com Good luck!

  • We've been using Hopewell Animal Hospital in Loveland for almost 8 years and have been VERY happy with them. There are 2 vets there - and they are both fantastic. I've never felt rushed through - they always take their time with our dogs and we never have a problem getting appts for the two of them together. They're both nutrition educated - which is important b/c a lot of vets aren't and will make recommendations for foods based on which rep was in their office with a deal instead of factual information.
  • Anota recommended Hopewell when we got Roxy 3+ years ago and we have never once thought about taking her elsewhere. We love the vets and staff and they treat Roxy very well.

  • I've taken all my pets to Heekin Animal Hospital in Taylor Mill. Dr. Heekin is amazing and provides really personalized care. She even called me at 10pm to find out how my dog was doing after he had surgery. LOVE her!

Is Dr. Heekin's first name Amy by any chance? With my first dog, I used to see Dr. Amy Heekin at Tennessee Avenue AH and I was wondering if she separated from that practice. I liked her a lot but that practice was chaotic and I kind of blame them for my first dog's death.

  • We use PetWOW. They're the mobile veterinarian. I'm not sure if they work in Ohio or not, but it's certainly worth checking. Once you make the appointment, they come to your house to do the visit. They have a mobile vet's office. They are always very sincere when taking care of our cat, and they seem to really care. They are super friendly, and honestly, much cheaper than an actual vet's office. Highly recommended.

  • We went to Dr. Terry Henehan for YEARS with all of our family pets...My mom still uses him. My DH&I switched to All Creatures after some rude comments from Dr.Henehan, and I felt he was neglecting a serious issue with my poodle, that ended up requiring surgery. I have now had my moms 2 dogs since Nov. as her health has been poor. I called Dr Henehan's office today b/c my moms poodle started limping last evening and his behavior has changed...they can't see him until tomorrow evening at 6:30 Sad I am yet again unimpressed with Dr Henehan.

  • My mom and I have been using Dr. Smith at VCA Animal Hospital (College Hill) for YEARS.  Actually, make that decades, because I think we've been going there for close to 20 years (and yes, that makes me feel old saying that!)

If you're in Norwood, it's within your 20 minute timeframe.  But just so you know, I live near Anderson and make the trip over there for both my dog and my cat (easily a 45-minute trip).  Love the staff, love all the vets there, I recommend them to everyone :)

  • We go to Eastgate Animal Hospital. We've seen a few of the vets there and they've all been great with our kitties. The one has had a couple of health issues since we've been going there (abscessed teeth, and acne of all things) and they've made sure he's well taken care of. The vets all seem to genuinely love our animals, their prices are reasonable, and they have a vet on call 24/7. We've used that service, too, and the vet on call contacted us in a timely manner.

Of course, we started going there because they're 10 minutes from home (I'd be hard-pressed to find a vet that's worth a much longer car ride with my loudmouth wailing kitty) but we've kept going there because we're impressed with their service.
