Toot your own horn Tuesday

Remember these? I think as women we don't naturally pride ourselves on stuff, which makes this hard. But let's see if we all can come up with one thing we're proud of about ourselves, whether it's a trait or a skill, or something you've done recently that you're happy with yourself about.

  • I impressed my co-worker the other day when telling him about my work on the bedroom. Wallpaper down, holes sealed and patched with drywall mud and now onto primer and paint. I learned it all from the internet and did it all myself.

  • I survived last week.

I'm on the verge of finally finishing our wedding scrapbook (3 years later)

  • 1. I started on my first-ever round of acne medication (Tazorac and spironolact), and for the past few weeks my skin has been worse than EVER! So embarassing. But finally, it's clearing up in patches and looks like it will be awesome!

    2. I have been working some complicated knitting out of an afghan book I just got, and am very pleased with the results! I've got about 5 squares knit in a new stitches, patterns, with sequins/beads, etc. I'm going to sew them up into a dolly blanket for my niece.

    3. I am starting out so slowly here at my new job that it's been pretty difficult for my Type-A personality to adjust. Even though I'm only proofing PowerPoint presentations and suggesting alternatives for talking points, I am getting rave reviews from my client. Apparently, their previous communicator spent a lot of time drooling and coloring with crayons. ?? But still: Smile

    4. I am thrilled with the two new cookie recipes I've tried recently. My peanut butter cookies came out AMAZING.

  • My liver enzymes are almost all in normal range...Only one isn't out of the 4 I get checked every week! Hooray!

    I PR'd a 5k at the gym this morning!

Like SMB, I'm on my 2nd type of topical antibiotic for my acne and this one seems to be working. I got to wear my Bare Minerals makeup instead of plastering on M.A.C today!

I'm going to Lady GaGa tomorrow!

  • I bought a new car and I love, love, love it.

ETA: The Nest keeps posting before I type anything! Grr.

What kind of car did you get???

  • i scored 2 goodies for dd .. FREE to a good home

1- a mechanical horse she can ride

    and

2- a high end wooden play kitchen

i love having co-workers who are doing spring cleaning and realizing that their kids' old toys can have a new life in someone else's house

Love - a wildly misunderstood although highly desirable malfunction of the heart which weakens the brain, causes the eyes to sparkle, cheeks to glow, blood pressure to rise and the lips to pucker - Author Unknown

AlternaTickers - Cool, free Web tickers

  • -I have been coming to the realization that I CANNOT keep working every possible hour available. So I have cut back and have gotten to spend more time with DH

-On sunday evening I made it through 1 more visit with MIL WITHOUT killing her :D

-I have been slacking going to the gym, but I have still managed to keep off the 10 pounds I had lost. I will be starting back to the gym soon!

-I have been paid to make some blankets for people and I get all warm and fuzzy inside when I finish them, deliver them and see their reactions. Now if I could just see when THEY gift them!

  • Mine is similiar to Passanie's.

I am very proud of the work I have done on the bedroom upstairs. I removed the chair rail, removed the wall paper and glue, smoothed out my half textured and half smooth (where the wall paper was) walls by using a technique I learned via the internet and now I'm almost to the point where I can seal and paint. It looks like a totally different room and I did most of it myself (minus the wall paper parts my husband removed which I dont discount but it was 1/4 of the room!)

  • I got an email yesterday from someone outside my company saying I'm doing a good job and am developing a fan base  :D

I cooked/baked a mean brunch on Sunday, if I do say so myself. I sent my mom pictures of what I made and she said she was really proud of me  :D

  • I am getting an A in two of my three classes, the 3rd I have no idea because the instructor never gives anything back.

I've been cooking dinner every night and keeping up with the dishes.

I only have two days of school left before my break!  I've made it half way through the semester!

  • I've been getting a lot of planning done lately. I've noticed the students I work with listen to me as much as their teacher, which is good. When she's been gone (her father passed away) the sub hasn't really been able to function without me.

Yea! A feeling of accomplishment, isn't it? I primed around the windows and the ceiling today. Next up is along the baseboards and then I finally get to use the roller and then paint! And for the record, I could have said the above sentence in bold myself. Wink
