Moms - Bottle Help Please

What kind of bottles do you use?  I'm breastfeeding and pumping.  Every bottle we try, she tends to drip milk everywhere.  I'm so completely frustrated.

Re: Moms - Bottle Help Please

  • After trying numerous bottles the First Years breastflow worked best for us. She switched back and forth between bottle and nursing beautifully with that bottle. Good luck! It's such a frustrating process.

  • We used the Avent bottles, which worked like a dream.  But there are always spills and dribbles, even when BFing.

Stupid suggestion, but have you checked the flow level of your nipples?

  • I used the bottles that came with the Medela pump and they worked ok.  Yes, nipple flow size is important too as they get older.
  • Dr. Brown's always worked best for us.

We're on the slowest flow.  I guess I'm looking to minimize the drip.  I have to add medication to it, so we need to ensure she gets the majority of it in her mouth and not down her clothes. Smile

  • First they used the small pump bottles... (Medela I think).  Then they went to Avent and are still using them.  I remember my babies dripping in the beginning too.  It was frustrating but they got better.

  • I love the Avent bottles.  They seldom leak.  That being said I hate, hate, hate Dr. Browns bottles for this reason.  I ended up giving all of mine away since I hate them so much.

  • On the rare occasion that I pump, I use Dr Browns Bottles and have not had any problems. We received a free Avent bottle for registering at Buy Buy Baby and didn't have any problems with it either... MHs dog chewed it up the first time I left it on the table though, we only used it twice, lol.

  • dr.brown's has a preemie flow nipple.  we had to use that one for several months as O had an aspiration issue.  even the slowest flow nipple was too much for her.
