Oh you facebook peer-pressurers...

Thanks to some of you on FB, I thought I'd pop over and say hi! How's it going ladies? I've been perusing the last few days. Things are finally starting to slow down (in some aspects) a bit at school/grad school and Clark is going to bed pretty early now, so I have a little bit of time.

What's shakin', bacon?

ETA: I forgot to mention that I'm switching careers! Keep it hush hush on FB bc I haven't told many people. Thanks to all of you a year ago that were helping me try to figure out what I wanted to do. God bless teachers, but I just can't work 70+ hours a week anymore to barely keep my head above water. I'm taking my real estate licensing exam on April 19 and I've already had an offer to join a well-established office in my area, so I go in a couple times a week to shadow.

  • Why helloooo there!  Glad things are starting to slow down a bit for you and that Clark has started going to bed earlier, giving you some time to relax *hopefully.*   I'm heading to bed soon but I wanted to drop a quick note on this saying welcome back :)
  • Haha, thanks C! PS How is the occasional co-sleeping thing going? This happened with us a lot while I was still breastfeeding so we both started out rolled over on our sides to help us not be able to roll over any further, and then we barricaded ourselves with pillows. They also say not to sleep them on their bellies, but since 4 months old, that is the only way he will sleep. It all started with a terrible cold that had him too congested to sleep on his back. You do what works, you know?

  • It's been going alright.  In the morning when Joel gets up to go to work I get Alex and BF him and we usually fall asleep that way for an hour or so before getting up for the day.  Last night he slept really well alone in his crib and we'll see how tonight goes.  I'm still uncomfortable when it's dark in the room because I can't easily check to make sure he's okay and still breathing.  I think with time I'll get more comfortable.  I like snuggling but I also like sleeping lol.
  • Yeah, I think Amelia, Devon, and Kelly will agree with me that you never stop checking to see if their breathing, although it does get less frequent. We love that he will STTN now finally most nights from 7pm to 7am and we finally feel like we're back to normal, although I do sometimes pop in for my own comfort lol. But once you start sleeping alone through the night, you'll start the fun afternoon naps together. Those are my fave Big Smile

  • Hey! I saw your facebook status but I couldn't put on FB what was new with me! (points to siggy!) I can't believe how big Clark is getting! You should pop up more often. :)
  • Yay Emily!!!!! CONGRATS! I know things are tight with you guys like they are with us, but it will all work out. PS - Get diapers on Amazon.com. You can get a free Prime account with a .edu address (amazon.com/student) that gets you free shipping and 15% off diapers, and then if you sign up for Amazon Mom, you get another 15% off diapers. We pay $25 for the ginormous box of Huggies Little Movers (Little Snugglers) that sells for $40 at BRU.

  • Yeah, I can't wait to get back on a normal schedule.  It's not so bad when Alex goes three hours between feedings at night but that only happens sometimes.  Every two hours is a bit rough and when that is coupled with him not wanting to sleep alone it's brutal, but he's SO darn cute Big Smile
  • He really is! I love that pic. It's presh :-)

  • Thanks! I dont have an .edu account anymore, but thanks for the tip! I've been wanting to slowly start buying a pack everytime we go to the grocery store since before we found out, but I never thought about getting them online and looking for coupons... That makes way more sence. Ever since extreme couponing Matt has been looking for ways to double up on savings and such... I'm surprised he hasn't thought of amazon!
  • Yes, definitely buy a pack in sizes newborn - 2 every 2 weeks or so. We didn't need any diapers for the first two months. And sign up online for coupons for diapers and formula now. Neither go bad for a long time, and even if you plan on breastfeeding, there might be an emergency where you need formula once or twice. Plus, as your baby gets older, Gerber will send you coupons on food, too.

  • Wonderful! That's all great to know! I'll get on those savings asap! It still feels surreal to us since I hardly have any symptoms and it seems like I have soo far to go. Right now I'm just enjoying still being able to sleep on my stomach and staying active.
