education and resume

I have been accepted for a MBA program.   Yay!  My questions  are: I am currently looking for a new job,  do I saying that  I am  starting the program in the fall on  my resume?   The other question is if I do put  it on, which campus do  I put on it? The university's  main campus is in a different city from where I am taking classes but they  are in the same state.

Re: education and resume

  • My guess and with a quick google power (and I am not an HR person):

Master of Business Administration, Best State University, Yourtown, ST, expected May 2013

It should go above your BS degree.

I knew about that  but wasd not sure if it still applied since I have not started the program yet.

  • Personally, I would leave it off the resume until you have actually started classes. [A lot could happen between now and the fall and starting school may not happen... very minute chance though.]

You can let any potential employer know about your return to school in an interview. Just reiterate that it should not effect your work hours and/or how that can help them out (networking with other B-school students, more knowledge to help grow business, etc.).

When I went back to school and was interviewing, I did not put it on the resume... it was a career changing school program and had nothing to do with the jobs I was applying for. I let the employer know that the classes were at night, so I was still able to work for them (I was hourly and they did not offer overtime, so no worries about staying late at work). They didn't really care. Ultimately, I only went to school for 2 semesters and decided that career field was not for me. I have left it off my resume since.

  • I wouldn't put it on until you actually start

I wouldn't worry about the campus. I would just say University of X.
