breakfast

What do you normally eat for breakfast? I'm looking for new easy/healthy weekday breakfast ideas. Thank
Anniversary

Re: breakfast

  • I typically do an instant breakfast drink. If I have time on Sundays, I will make muffins for the week (also depends if I can keep DH out of them).

I really haven't been a breakfast person so I am interested to see what others say.

  • breakfast is one of my fav meals...

during the week i have a bowl of special k w/ skim milk and double fiber whole wheat toast, a lil i cant' believe its not butter mediterranean style, and fat free cottage cheese.

    is the best breakfast.

on the weekends if we go out i usually stick to a 2 egg white omlet with onions, garlic, tomoato, and feta.  wheat toast or if i'm treating myself i get grilled sweet bread (omgawesomeawesome)

    hope this helps!

  • I LOVE breakfast on the weekends sadly during the week I slack at what I know is an important meal.
  • I used to eat boxed cereals but now I make my own granola cereal!  It's the best!  I know exactly what I'm putting in it and there isn't all that unneeded sugar and sodium!  Plus it keeps me fuller longer, especially with some flax seed sprinkled on top!

For the chocolate crunch I use dried bananas instead of craisins

  • Lately I have been having one serving of the Bolthouse Farms juices (like Naked). Today I am leaving at 11 for a meeting, so I'm going to hold off and have a whole bottle of juice for lunch (2 servings), so I went for an orange this morning. I want to start getting up early enough to have a piece of toast. Oh, and in the winter, I love doing instant oatmeal (made with water, not milk).

  • - Cheerios: I went to Costco and purchase a box. It comes in two full plastic bags (you know, the ones you can't never close), so I entered the cheerior into a ziploc bag. Every Sunday I purchase a half of gallon 2% Milk and take my ceral to work with me every Monday to last me for at least 2 weeks. I also, purchase different types of fruit on Sundays. So each day I take a diffrent fruit to add to my ceral.

    -  Jillian Michaels meal replacement shakes

    - Banana and coffee with no sugar just cream

    - When I have time, I make poach eggs with wheat toast

  • I have to be up for an hour or two before I eat so I have breakfast when I get to work. I used to keep a box of cereal in my office (usually Special K or one of the Kashi ones), but my company decided to stop providing us milk. So I switched to oatmeal; I buy a variety pack with different flavors. On the weekends I will usually make scrambled eggs and turkey bacon at least one of the days. A lot of times I will eat a bagel or one of the eggwhite flatbread sandwiches from Dunkin Donuts on one of the weekend days.

  • Yeah, so...I'm probably not the best example here...usually it's Dunkin Donut's coffee and a plain cake donut Sad

  • I LOVE breakfast!  I usually have a fruit/protein smoothie on weekdays because all of the vitamin C gives me a ton of energy in the morning at work!  On weekends, I usually opt for eggs and a banana.

  • I also make muffins for the week on Sunday when I can (sometimes I make them for two weeks and freeze -- I do South Beach Diet Oat Muffins). Or I will also freeze little quiche cups (eggs, spinach, green peppers, onions, cheese) and eat one of those with turkey sausage. When I haven't been productive enough on Sunday to pre-make our breakfast for the week I will make hard boiled eggs and just grab one on my way of out of the door. I'm always running late during the week so anything that involves cooking is pretty much out of the question.
  • I have a Thomas whole wheat bagel thin with 2 tablespoons of peanut butter.

  • To keep my WW points down, I usually do a bowl of cereal (not too sugary, of course), 1/2 container of Greek yogurt, a hard boiled egg and a piece of fruit.  7 point meal.  :)

  • I used to eat cereal everyday, but the only thing that really fills me up is this:

a whole wheat bagel toasted, spread 2 tbsps of peanut butter on 1 half and 2 tbsps of Nutella on the other half. Top both halves with banana slices.

I got this idea from my Fitness magazine and it was listed as a 300 calorie breakfast. It is literally the only thing that keeps me full from 7am to noon.. And it curbs my chocolate craving for the day.

  • DH and I usually eat breakfast together.  Jimmy Dean makes little 240 calorie WW bagel, egg whites, turkey sausage and cheese things.  They are DELISH!  I usually eat that with a yoplait light and banana.  I eat a lot in the morning because it is easier to work off then dinnertime.  Plus, I'm not as hungry during the day!
  • I usually have cereal (frosted wheat), or string cheese and yogurt. Breakfast is not one of my favorite meals and I would really have no problem skipping it and getting more sleep so I'm usually eating this as I'm headed out the door.

  • Thanks for the suggestions ladies.

For those who make muffins...what kind do you make?  Anyone want to share a recipe?

These are sooooooo good. Recipe calls for brown sugar substitute but I just use regular brown sugar. Like I said, I try to make a double batch and freeze them - then just microwave for 45 secs or so :)
