Eeee! Hiiiiii! Missed you!
Now share exciting stories of your travels!
Re: Heyxu!
Hiii! You decided to come back to the board?
Eh, exciting wouldn't be what I call it. Let's see.. after coming back from Philippines last summer, I pretty much traveled to Syracuse, NY for work from mid-September to two weeks ago. It was a fun experience because the work was a lot different than what I did so it was a great change of pace. The hours were long (10+ hour days) and I had to do alternating weekends (so I was in Syracuse for 12 days in a row). While I missed Patrick, I also have to admit that it was nice being alone. Hopefully, the work reflects on my next performance review because it didn't last year. My work does performance reviews every October so I'm hoping it'll help me get a promotion for the next cycle.
The other good thing about travel is that I had no real expenses since food was taken care of and I made a bunch of overtime money. So we finally got to buy a couch and chair for the living room and a dining table! Our house actually feels like a house now
. Originally, I was supposed to keep traveling until mid-June but that changed so it sucks not having that extra money anymore.
There was a time in February that I went to Philippines for two weeks because my grandfather passed away and Patrick couldn't come so we barely talked because of the 13 hour time difference. Then I had to come back to Syracuse right away when I got back to the US. At that point, I was really getting sick of being away from home and the distance apart was straining my marriage a bit. It worked out because I only had to go back to Syracuse for three weeks and now I'm back in VA!
Other than being busy, my coworkers and I sat next to each other in Syracuse, so I couldn't really get on the board that much. My project manager sat with us so I definitely didn't want to look like a slacker.
So yea, not very exciting at all!
Traveling has kept you busy! I can relate to sometimes loving being alone. When I lived by myself it was one of my favorite times.
Sorry to hear about your loss in the family.
I am really happy that you're back though!

I never left the board, just went into hardcore lurker mode.
Any travel is exciting travel! Sorry to hear about your grandfather, though. Are you excited about not living out of a suitcase anymore?
And ugh, I'm not a fan of the being alone! Dusty started a new job last month, and he now works nights. I only get to see him for an hour or two every day. I liked it at first, but now I just miss him all the time. It has definitely made me appreciate him more, though.
Haha, we moved to Manassas because it's cheaper. We have a really nice 1 bedroom (including a private dog park within our community) for less than what we paid for our studio in Old Town. Gotta make sacrifices if I want a house soon. I still work in Old Town, though, and take the train in.
Oh yea, definitely excited about not being alone. And way way excited about not having to deal with the snow! I started running again and it was so hard to get motivation to run outside when it was below freezing so it feels good to run outside at home.
Aw, that sucks he has to work at night! Is it only during the weekday or does it include weekends? The time apart was rough but it really helped me appreciate Patrick more. Plus, being around other people really helped me get my stick out of my butt too lol. We used to spend a lot of time just me and him but I was forced to hang out with my co workers and hearing their stories and POVs about things really helped me not get so annoyed at Patrick all the time.
I totally understand about saving money. It makes sense, we moved in with my parents before the wedding to save money for the wedding and our house. Do you drive to Vienna to take the metro?
