BR- need crib matress suggestions

Alright ladies- we registered for a crib mattress, however, I no nothing about them and really dont have many friends comments or suggestions. Which crib mattress did you purchase and do you like it?

Re: BR- need crib matress suggestions

  • To be honest, I can't remember the exact name of it, but it is made by Serta and was around $100.

  • Oh yeah, and it fits the crib perfect and Weston seems to have no problem with it!

  • I think its the one we registered for! I thought I picked the right one but your comments help!
  • I have my eye on a Sealy soybean foam core matress. You can laugh at me, its okay.

  • I think we have one similar to Kelly. But we have no baby in it to see. I thought about foam but it grosses me out to think if any spillage gets in there... ick and they're hot.
Baby, you've got the sort of eyes that tell me tales...

Huh. The one I'm looking at has a nice cover on the outside so baby isnt lying right on foam. It doesnt seem like it would be hot at all.

  • We got the Serta Perfect Sleep, I think? It was right around $100, so it might the same one as well.

Foam mattresses have the same type of coverings there would be on coil mattresses.

We ended up getting this mattress on Amazon.  It was one Baby Bargains recommended.  We were also considering getting the one Mac mentioned.

We just bought this one at Babies R Us tonight since they were running a 15% off sale on them. (Oddly, BRU doesn't show it on their website.) I thought about getting coils but they're a lot heavier than foam mattresses and that makes it harder to change crib sheets.   I like that this one doesn't have any weird smelly chemicals in it.  It came out to about $130.  Maybe a little overpriced but it got great reviews.

Baby Bargains recommends Colgate mattresses I think. Can't recall their input on Sealy's but we picked this one because it seemed to suit baby's needs regardless. I think this mattress is a little wider than typical ones but should still fit in standard cribs.  And if it fits tighter, that's a good thing because baby can't get stuck between mattress and crib that way.

Yea I know but it still freaks me out lol. When I looked at them I just wasn't in love. My foam topper makes me sweat so I can only imagine the mattress would be warm too. I could be wrong though. I know they're the rage right now. The lady at the baby store was trying so hard to get us to get it but I truly think she only wanted us to because at this particular store they were so overpriced.
