living will?

does anyone have a living will? we need to make one soon, the hospital asked if we have one for them to keep on record. it's so scary and morbid to think about, but should something happen to me with pregnancy, we really need to get this in writing... any outline you suggest or template? does is have to be notarized or just a witness' signature?

Re: living will?

  • No, neither of us have one.  There are so many little things that DH and I have to try and get done before this LO shows up.  Guess I will be adding this one to my list!

  • We don't have one, it's one of those things that I keep meaning to do, but we just haven't had a chance to do it yet.

  • No, but we need one. We do have advanced directives on file at Baptist, so it is clear who can make medical decisions for us.
  • I have one, but it's just sitting on my computer, written but unsigned. I googled "living will" and pieced together what I thought was relevant.

DH and I just had the conversation of who will get DD if something catastrophic happens. NOT an easy conversation.

  • My doctor's office did one for me.  They has a form all ready and I just had to fill in the blanks.

we also just had this conversation.... it was an easy decision who would get her, just hard to think about.

We haven't had this conversation yet and I mentioned to DH the other day that we needed to sit down and decide who we wanted as gaurdians for our LO if something happened to us and we also need to pick godparents.

We still can't agree on who would get B and #2 :( It's such a hard decision.

  • We don't have them yet. I tried to talk about it with DH and all he says is "just let me die". well what do you mean? in what circumstances? "I don't know, just let me die." it was very frustrating.

we also talked about long term care and he says that if he gets to the point where he can't really "live" then to "just let him die". but it's not like it's that easy. does that mean if his quality of life decreases then I should stop providing him with food and let him starve in a pile of his own feces. yes, apparently that is what that means. ugh.

  • We do not, but we need to.  In fact, we need to do a full will and trust workup.  We have a lawyer friend who said it normally costs about $1200 to $1500, but she would do it for us between $800-$1000 since we're friends.  Um, thanks?
