need gift ideas for a student of mine

for a student of mine who broke her leg (pretty bad ...poor thing).  She is in 4th grade, but a year older, pretty mature for her age.  She came back today and seemed pretty depressed that she will not be able to continue with her acting right now.  She doesn't like to stand out, so the fact she is in a wheelchair when going around school and needs a buddy all the time, she is a bit bummed.  She is very sweet b/c when I went to see her when she came in she actually forgot about her problem and asked how my mom was doing and that she was sorry to hear about my dad.  How sweet is she?!  Anyway, I'd lie to put a few things together for her, like magazines and some fun snacks mabe.  She loves twilight and to write stories... thinking a nice journal maybe?  what do you think?  would a good set of pens or pencils be nice?  thinking it would be special.  maybe teen magazines of some sort, whatever i see.  please be honest if these things sound weird and anything else you have for ideas would be great.  She said she is sick of watching tv too.

thanks for your help :-)

  • awww, how sweet are you! i think a journal (perhaps one with a twilight-themed cover?) and some nice pens would be a really thoughtful gift.

    twilight journals:

  • I agree that a journal and nice pens would be a nice gift for your student. I would stay away from the teen mags since I wouldn't want my 10-11 year old to read those... at least not without my express permission first.

  • true about the magazines... plus she has a younger sister who i bet would get ahold of them too.  I was thinking of giving her some nail polish too- and i was going to give a little bag to her sister too (don't want all the attention to go to the older sister and she woudl love to get some polish and maybe polist the toes in the cast.  :)

  • i love the nailpolish idea!! journal, pens, maybe a book or a gift card to the book store?

  • I love that idea!  What about a journal or two and then a bunch of different pen - sparkly glitter fun ones, more serious ones, etc.  Different things she can use to write and doodle and draw.  And I love the nail polish idea.
