Let's Do a Fun Survey!

I have enjoyed when we've done them in the past.  Maybe we should make this a monthly/weekly occurrence.  I enjoy the site Sunday Stealing because it updates with a new survey... every Sunday.

So here's the survey:

1. What is your favorite Mexican dish?

2. When you were a kid, did you get started on your homework right away after school, or did you procrastinate?

3. What is your favorite store for home furnishings?

4. When you were young, did you like school lunches?

5. Is religion a crutch?

6. In your region, what is the ?big? high school sport?

7. Do you consider yourself rich?

8. Which of these would you have the best chance administering:

A) CPR
B) Heimlich Maneuver
C) Changing a flat tire

9. Which dance would you prefer to learn & why:

A) Salsa
B) Hip Hop
C) Waltz
D) Swing

10. What?s the worst news you?ve ever delivered to someone?

11. Name something you learned in high school or college  that had nothing to do with classes or academics.

12. New variation on an old question: If there?s a song in your head that just won?t get out, what is your favorite (or most repeated) line in that song?

Re: Let's Do a Fun Survey!

  • 1. What is your favorite Mexican dish?  Just a plain taco.  I don't get fancy.

    2. When you were a kid, did you get started on your homework right away after school, or did you procrastinate?  Procrastinate.  Sometimes until the next morning.  My parents didn't know that.

    3. What is your favorite store for home furnishings?  A local shop that has better quality than the chains for furniture.  I love Etsy, Z Gallerie, and Anthropologie for decor.

    4. When you were young, did you like school lunches?  Parents went over the menu ahead of time and we decided what days I wanted to eat the school lunch or pack something.

    5. Is religion a crutch?  I don't think so, but that's assuming having a crutch is a terrible thing.

    6. In your region, what is the ?big? high school sport?  Soccer!

    7. Do you consider yourself rich?  Heck no!

    8. Which of these would you have the best chance administering:

    A) CPR
    B) Heimlich Maneuver
    C) Changing a flat tire -- Don't trust me to save your life

    9. Which dance would you prefer to learn & why:

    A) Salsa
    B) Hip Hop
    C) Waltz
    D) Swing

    10. What?s the worst news you?ve ever delivered to someone?  Breaking it off with my high-school sweetheart was probably the most gut-wrenching thing ever.  But I had met DH and knew he was the one.

    11. Name something you learned in high school or college  that had nothing to do with classes or academics.  Not all high school and college guys are jerks.

    12. New variation on an old question: If there?s a song in your head that just won?t get out, what is your favorite (or most repeated) line in that song?  Right now I can't get Adele's "Rolling in the Deep" out of my head.  But I try to avoid The Killers' "Somebody Told Me" at all costs because I will have the chorus stuck in my head for days and I will flip the heck out!

  • 1. What is your favorite Mexican dish? Chicken Enchiladas

    2. When you were a kid, did you get started on your homework right away after school, or did you procrastinate? I always started on it right away so I could do things that I wanted to do.  I hated having to do homework late at night because that meant I couldn't watch TV or read a book or play for fun.

    3. What is your favorite store for home furnishings? Probably Pier 1, but I can't afford most of what I like there!  I have a champagne taste on a beer budget, so Target and TJ Maxx are my friends.

    4. When you were young, did you like school lunches? I did in middle school because we had a salad bar that was AMAZING; I'm talking restaurant quality salad bar.

    5. Is religion a crutch? Hm... I guess this is an age old debate.  I do believe in God, but I don't really go to church that much because I feel like it's become so routine and cookie cutter that it doesn't feel like it makes me a stronger believer.  I think it could be a crutch for some people.

    6. In your region, what is the ?big? high school sport? Well, basketball and football are both pretty big in Central IL.

    7. Do you consider yourself rich? Not if we're talking money, but in terms of family and people who support me, yes.

    8. Which of these would you have the best chance administering:

    A) CPR
    B) Heimlich Maneuver

    C) Changing a flat tire

*Picked two because I am a swim coach; I know both!

    9. Which dance would you prefer to learn & why:

    A) Salsa
    B) Hip Hop
    C) Waltz because I already know the other three.  I took dance lessons for 13 years, but never learned the waltz.
    D) Swing

    10. What?s the worst news you?ve ever delivered to someone? Well, this year I'm pretty positive that I'm going to have to tell two students they're being held back.  That's going to suck, but they've been failing all year long, and not just in my classes.

    11. Name something you learned in high school or college  that had nothing to do with classes or academics. Sometimes you have to be selfish.  I'm the sort of person that never puts my needs or wants before others, and it's gotten me into situations where I am unhappy.  My cooperating teacher during student teaching gave me the best advice I've gotten from somebody in a long time: Sometimes you have to stop giving a s*** about what people expect from you and do something for yourself.

    12. New variation on an old question: If there?s a song in your head that just won?t get out, what is your favorite (or most repeated) line in that song? Well... this is strange, but for some reason, Jingle Bell Rock gets stuck in my head on an almost daily basis at around 10am.  I don't know why.  It's been a problem since sophomore year of high school in 10am Chemistry, and now it still happens to this day.  I hate that song.

  • 1. What is your favorite Mexican dish? Three Cheese Nacho's with Chicken from Qdoba

    2. When you were a kid, did you get started on your homework right away after school, or did you procrastinate? Definitely procrastinate

    3. What is your favorite store for home furnishings? Craft fairs, I love all things country - specifically red barn stars

    4. When you were young, did you like school lunches? Yes I took my lunch most of the time

    5. Is religion a crutch?  I could see where people could think this, and I could also see how people could use religion as a crutch.  I try to be religious because I feel it makes me a better person.

    6. In your region, what is the ?big? high school sport? I just moved to where I live in December so I am not really sure.  I hope it's football because I see this being the area we live in to raise our children and my DH played football in HS and it is our favorite sport to watch on TV.

    7. Do you consider yourself rich? Haha not even close!

    8. Which of these would you have the best chance administering:

    A) CPR

    9. Which dance would you prefer to learn & why:

    B) Hip Hop - because I think it looks like the most fun.

    10. What?s the worst news you?ve ever delivered to someone? Hmmm I don't know - I used to work as an Addictions Counselor so I used to have to people that they were not getting what they needed in outpatient treatment as were being referred to in-patient - you would have thought that that was the end of the world for some people.

    11. Name something you learned in high school or college  that had nothing to do with classes or academics.  That you need to be happy with yourself, and not worry so much about what other think of you.  I think in HS I got so wrapped up in what my friends were doing and what they thought of me that it held me back from being the person I really was.

    12. New variation on an old question: If there?s a song in your head that just won?t get out, what is your favorite (or most repeated) line in that song?  I don't have a song stuck in my head right now.  One of my favorite songs right now is the song "Marry You" by Bruno Mars and the line that sticks out in my head right now is "Is it that look in your eyes, or is it this dancing juice, who cares baby, I think I wanna marry you."
    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • 1. What is your favorite Mexican dish? I can't decide. I LOVE Mexican food!

    2. When you were a kid, did you get started on your homework right away after school, or did you procrastinate? When I was younger I got started right away. In high school I never did it. In college I procrastinated like crazy.

    3. What is your favorite store for home furnishings? Target, Ikea, and thrift stores. Oh, and ModCloth!

    4. When you were young, did you like school lunches? Sometimes. Probably because they were so unhealthy. Food with no nutritional value was delicious at the time.

    5. Is religion a crutch? I think it can be for some people, but not all of them. I am not personally religious.

    6. In your region, what is the ?big? high school sport? Depends on the high school. I went to school in a small town where football was kind of the thing. Now I live in the city, where there are lots of schools and it's kind of hard to tell what's big.

    7. Do you consider yourself rich? Monetarily, not at all. Career-wise, meh. But relationship-wise (friends, family, romantically), very much so. The last one is the most important I think.

    8. Which of these would you have the best chance administering:

    A) CPR
    B) Heimlich Maneuver
    C) Changing a flat tire

    9. Which dance would you prefer to learn & why: This one is hard so I'm choosing two. I took swing classes through community ed a couple years ago and had a blast. Salsa just looks like so much fun!

    A) Salsa
    B) Hip Hop
    C) Waltz
    D) Swing

    10. What?s the worst news you?ve ever delivered to someone? I had to tell my husband when his grandpa died. MIL called me after he didn't answer his phone, and I was the first person he was able to pick up for.

    11. Name something you learned in high school or college that had nothing to do with classes or academics. I learned how to sneak alcohol into the dorms. Stick out tongue

    12. New variation on an old question: If there?s a song in your head that just won?t get out, what is your favorite (or most repeated) line in that song? Are you kidding me? I've had that horrible Friday song stuck in my head for a week. My favorite part is when she's like "fun fun fun fun" in a way that's not at all fun.

  • .1. What isyour favorite Mexican dish? Does guacamole count byitself??  If not, I vote veggieenchiladas WITH guac. J

Ooooh so many?Crate, Target, TJMaxx, Pottery Barn, I likecontemporary/but welcoming.

Not so much.  In middleschool there was pizza hut pizza, and hat was treat then, but sounds yucky now

    5. Is religion a crutch?
Is a crutch such a bad thing? It helps you through a rough time until you can walk again.  I?m not religious, (not a church person, etc.) but I have some faith in me. Regardless, if it helps you get through things in life, I guess it couldbe considered a crutch, but I don?t think that?s too bad actually.

    6. In your region, what is the ?big? high schoolsport?
Well, everything really. It depends on the school.

    7. Do you consider yourself rich?
Monetarily no, however Iwill say I do feel very fortunate in that department anyhow.  We are not crazy spenders, but we basicallyget to buy what we want, and take vacations when we want.  And in life, I?m as rich as they come:  have awesome family and friends and anawesome husband, and we all have good health!

    8. Which of these would you have the best chanceadministering:

    A) CPR
    B) Heimlich Maneuver

    C) Changing a flat tire

    9. Which dance would you prefer to learn &why:

    A) Salsa
    B) Hip Hop
    C) Waltz
    D) Swing

I can do all of the above actually.  But I need to work on my hip hop the most forsure!

    10. What?s the worst news you?ve ever delivered tosomeone?
Telling my family when my FIL died unexpectedly.  I nearly had to tell my DH because his mothercalled me when she could reach him, but his brother called us literally as Iwas hearing my vm from MIL.
    11. Name something you learned in high school orcollege  that had nothing to do with classes or academics.
Friends can be like family. Teachers can be life long friends too. Be an active member of the world you live in through work/career,volunteering, traveling or just exploring local scenery.  Like the cheesey old saying ?Explore yourworld.?  Haha But seriously do it!

    12. New variation on an old question: If there?s asong in your head that just won?t get out, what is your favorite (or mostrepeated) line in that song?

    1. What is your favorite Mexican dish?

    Guacamole and quesadillas

    2. When you were a kid, did you get started on your homework right away after school, or did you procrastinate?

Right after school - in Poland homework is no joke.

    3. What is your favorite store for home furnishings?

    Crate and Barrel

    4. When you were young, did you like school lunches?

In Poland, there were no school lunches - my mom made me sandwiches every day, so I guess I can say I did :)

    5. Is religion a crutch?

I think it's everyone personal business, I am no religious, but if being religious works for you, go with it.

    6. In your region, what is the ?big? high school sport?

No idea, I did not grow up here.

    7. Do you consider yourself rich?

Not really, it's not like I am sleeping in sheets quilted of dollar bills, but I don't consider myself poor either.

    8. Which of these would you have the best chance administering:

    A) CPR - probably this one. They made us master these in high school
    B) Heimlich Maneuver
    C) Changing a flat tire

    9. Which dance would you prefer to learn & why:

    A) Salsa - It's a sexy dance to dance with your loved one to, but DH does not dance :(

    D) Swing

    11. Name something you learned in high school or college that had nothing to do with classes or academics.

I learned smoking cigarettes... peer pressure sucks. it took me some 3 years to stop smoking.

    12. New variation on an old question: If there?s a song in your head that just won?t get out, what is your favorite (or most repeated) line in that song?

"I've got to break free" by Queen :) Love that song and my favorite line is:

    I've fallen in love
I've fallen in love for the first time
And this time I know it's for real
    I've fallen in love, yeah
God knows, God knows I've fallen in love

More like the whole verse, but I loved singing it when I started dating DH.

  • I have enjoyed when we've done them in the past.  Maybe we should make this a monthly/weekly occurrence. I think this is a great idea!

    So here's the survey:

    1. What is your favorite Mexican dish?Do nachos count? I love nachos!

    2. When you were a kid, did you get started on your homework right away after school, or did you procrastinate? Team Procrastination

    3. What is your favorite store for home furnishings? I am creativity-challenged so I don't do much furnishings shopping. When I do its usually Target.

    4. When you were young, did you like school lunches?Yes

    5. Is religion a crutch? I think it can be but that's not necessarily bad. People sometimes need a crutch when times are hard.

    7. Do you consider yourself rich? Not in a monetary sense, but I have been very fortunate in my life.

    8. Which of these would you have the best chance administering I'll go with changing a flat tire. I've learned how to do all these things but it's been awhile. At least with the tire someone's life is not in immediate danger and I can sit back and think or Google directions on my phone, lol!

    9. Which dance would you prefer to learn & why:

    A) Salsa
    B) Hip Hop
    C) Waltz
    D) Swing

All of the above. If I had to choose one I'd pick swing because good swing dancers look like they are having so much fun!

    10. What?s the worst news you?ve ever delivered to someone? Nothing really major I can think of so far. Mostly just relaying news of family illnesses from my dad's side of the family on to my younger brother who's away at college. Oh and when I worked in property management I would have to talk to people about declined applications, eviction, declined requests and such. I don't miss that part of the job!

    11. Name something you learned in high school or college  that had nothing to do with classes or academics. People who don't take the time to pay any attention to you are not worth your time. I probably took longer than I should figuring this one out!

    12. New variation on an old question: If there?s a song in your head that just won?t get out, what is your favorite (or most repeated) line in that song? "Truth be told I miss yooooou, Truth be told I'm lying..." Actually pretty much that whole damn song had been stuck in my head since this morning.
