Bars in the W Hotel

Anyone been to the bars inside the W Hotel in the second street district? Thinking of going there for a bachelorette party.

Re: Bars in the W Hotel

  • someone on the radio was talking about it this AM and she said they had great drinks and snacks for HH. Made her feel swanky Stick out tongue

  • we went to the ghost bar at the W in Dallas for my bachelorette party a few years ago.  it was fun, expensive, and a great little weekend 'treat'.
  • I haven't been but I've been told that it's a very "Dallas" type atmosphere.  It's more dressy than your typical Austin bar and more expensive.  To me, a bachelorette party would be a great time go to there. (However, I probably wouldn't make it the whole evening but that's just me.)

  • I've been a couple times. Once for happy hour, and once at night. During happy hour it was neat - we had the baby, it was a very laid back atmosphere. Sofas to sit on, quieter music and not too busy. The french fries are yummy! Now, not Austin laid back, as in I wouldn't want to be in yoga pants and flip flops. It is a bit more dressy. At night, it was packed. We got there before, but when we left there was a line down the street just to get in. Wall to wall people and louder music. And yes, everyone was dressed up. Not more so than anywhere else in the district, though. Same for the prices, more expensive than non-downtown, but not higher than surrounding bars. $9 glasses of wine, $8 house margaritas, and up from there.

I think it would be a fun place for a bachelorette party! There's several different themed rooms, places to sit, fancy drinks, and it's the new hip spot (for now...).
