Well, I did it- I made my birthday cake! I tried so hard to get the cornstarch dust off of the black zebra stripes...but you can still see it. Any idea what I could do for next time?
WDYT?

Re: Heather
That is beautiful! Great job. I used powdered sugar and it came off so I am not sure. I'm not sure if this will work but maybe just a light damp cloth or something and see if it will come off but again I am not sure.
Page Jessica (wishesshecouldcook). She might have some ideas since she has done some fondant stuff. Lauren might also know. Sorry I can't help in that department.
I think it is absoultely beatiful and you did a great job.
Thanks for the recipe Heather
It was really good!
I guess I should have used powdered sugar...I read somewhere (cant remember) that using powdered sugar would make the fondant crack in areas and get too dried out so I was too afraid to use it. I will use powdered sugar next time!
Thanks so much!
If you need a chocolate cake recipe...I made this one. It is AMAZING. Perfectly chocolate and so moist!

I'll have to try that choc. cake receipe. I hadn't heard that about the powdered sugar so I am not sure, but I didn't have any problems when I did mine. I did put mine in the fridge and used it the next day so I don't know if that had something to do with it or not.
I really think you need to start doing crafts and stuff for a living. You do a great job on crafts and you do a great job on baking.

Thanks so much for the sweet comments
My Mom keeps telling me the same thing...Im having a hard time deciding what to do.
I love sewing and could sell some of the items on ETSY, but Im thinking about trying to go to local shops to see if they would want to sell my stuff.
As for the baking aspect, my grandma says Im wasting my talent by not trying to sell my baked goods to people. I have been taking pics of the stuff I have been baking so I can build a binder or do a blog so I can show friends/family. I need to start small.
Thanks again!
Thanks Carrie
I just did, thank you for the encouragement Heather!
