20% of Texans believe Obama is Muslim...
It seems like a country unto itself in this election, with McCain
enjoying the same kind of lead that Obama gets nationally. Maybe this
has something to do with it:
In order to gauge public awareness of Obama's religion, we asked
respondents, "What do you believe Barack Obama's religion to be?" A
plurality, 45.5%, chose the "Protestant" option, and 28 % couldn't say.
Twenty percent, however, said that Obama is a Muslim.
Re: 20% of Texans believe Obama is Muslim...
I voted today in Texas--for McCain, but I know Obama's not a Muslim.
Most of my friends and family voted for him, too, but they also know Obama's not a Muslim.
I can guarantee you that if I hear a fellow Texan say that Obama's a Muslim, I will correct them. I cannot guarantee that I won't bring up Rev. Wright as my proof.

I was talking with a fellow faculty member this morning. She is a republican so no matter what she wasn't voting for Obama but she did say she is frightened of his being elected due to his ties to terrorists and his being a Muslim.
I just shook my head in disbelief. I gave up a long time ago trying to convince those who said he is a Muslim that he isn't.
