I said I'd rather have your ladies opinions on name ideas instead of hormonal women on the mean "name board." Here are our names that we have chosen. (There's really no budging now because we took long enough to settle on these)
Boy: David Xander
Girl: Brooklyn Grace [nickname: Brooke]

Re: Name Opinions
Books read in 2012: 21/50
I love both of those names. Those both flow really nicely.
And I've always liked the name Brooklyn. My friend has a niece with that name, and I always thought it was super cute. David is classic, traditional.. can't be mispronounced or misspelled. Which is always good IMO.
I love the name Brooke and I love the name Lynn - great combo! Also, David is a classic choice (and nice rarely used middle name!). Since the male name sounds more traditional, is it after a family member or was it just the only one you could agree on?
Names are fun! Thanks for sharing!! How's your pregnancy going?
Married 11/6/10
DH's name is David... so is his dad, and his dad, and his dad, and his dad, etc....
I really liked David Grayson, but I understand why DH doesn't and he didn't like the girl name Addison either. Oh well.
So far, going so well... I've had horrible pelvic pains and aches, and I'm dreading going in to work tonight. I guess I gotta do what I gotta do. But we're finding out the gender on Saturday!!!
I think both of these names are great! David is so classic and one I personally have always liked. Love your unusual middle name (I knew one Zander growing up!).
I also think Brooke and variations of it are pretty.
I know what you mean about the name board lol. Sometimes it's a helpful board, and other times I see meanness or strong opinions flying.
i LOVE David Grayson. Not the biggest fan of Xander, but David Alexander i like better.
I like the girl choices
I cant believe you're already finding out the gender - man time flies!
I like the names - how do you pronouce xander? I'm assuming it sounds like "zander"?

I love Brooklyn Grace and as well as David.
I know Xander isn't the most common, but we originally had David Alexander, but DH liked Xander better... (men!) I loved David Grayson, but he hated Grayson (
)
TIme is definitely flying. I'll be 17 weeks tomorrow and in about 3 weeks, I'll be half way through.
Thanks ladies for all of your input and I'm so happy that my names aren't completely hated (or it seems like they aren't)! I understand preferences, but for our culture/lifestyle/area/community/generation/whatever, they are pretty acceptable names, if that makes sense. We knew a Xander growing up that was the son of an Elvis impersonator so I think that might be why DH likes the name. I used to babysit him about 10 years ago.. crazy coincidence.
Growing up I always thought if I had a son I would name him David Alexander! They are the names of my brother and childhood friend. But it turns out David REALLY clashes with my new last name...
So, yeah, I like your choice!
So, jmkes, when it's our turn to name a baby, will you help us? Lol. I was a "victim" of the phenomenon where a gazillion parents decided simultaneously that they didn't know ANY Sarah's and thought this "rare" lovely name would be perfect for their little girls. I've spent my entire life as Sarah + Last Initial. Or "Sarah with an H!" if the other Sarah's were Sara's. So want to avoid this for our kiddos!
Haha, of course I will Zara! I've been working with babies for almost 9 years now. Names will be really popular for about a year or two and then new names will become popular. A few years ago we saw "Chloe" & "Ava" right and left, but not so much anymore. I've also seen a LOT of weird names where you wonder "What were they thinking???"
