Feeding help

I have 7.5 month twins.  They are doing great with cereal and mashed/pureed fruits and veggies.  The problem is I don't know what comes next.  I'm going to get a mesh feeder and try some fruit that way, but I'm not sure what else I should be introducing at this point or what the next step is.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: Feeding help

  • you can try chunkier purees or the mesh feeder, or just giving them large pieces of food to try and feed themselves.

at 7.5m, J was almost completely on table food so I let her have a toddler fork with her food to play with, but a year old, she used her fork for almost everything and wouldn't eat if she didn't have one on her tray.

  • try the stage2 and 3 purees, introduce saltines or other thin crackers.  They need to start to learn chewing at their age.  gerber puffs and yogurt melts are also good to try.
  • i started liza with a banana and cut up avacados at that age. also i remember at her 6mo appt the doctor said i could give her things that she could nom nom on-like a pizza crust or a peeled carrot.

We started with puffs to get her used to a different texture.  She gagged on them the first several times, but got used to it fairly quickly.  She loved those.

You could try little bits of banana (cut into eighths) or tiny bits of mango, and if they are too mushy for them to pick up, then roll them in crushed up cheerios.

Definitely check out that www.wholesomebabyfood.com website - that is a great resource!
