Post your fav recipe involving a food processor!

I finally got one so I want to play.  I've had to pass on recipes that required a FP so now I want to find them again.  Do you have any favorites??

  • Um, yeah.  I have had mine for almosst ten years and have only used it about five times!  It's just a pretty accessory taking up too much counter real estate right now.

    Guess I'll be checking back here for recipes too :)

  • I'll tell you what it is excellent for and it's use lately (besides collecting dust).  We buy this amazing Mario Batali Italian shredded cheese blend at Sam's but, we prefer grated to shredded.  I can grind down the whole 20 oz. container in the FP in about 2 minutes flat!

  • I've only ever used it to make pie dough, sun dried tomato dip... oh and use it to chop cranberries in a cookie recipe I make over Christmas.

     I think the thing is a big hunky pain in the arse.  I always have trouble getting the effer unlocked and taking the bowl off.... I've literally almost thrown it off my deck in frustration.

  • I make a delicious tomato soup recipe, home made sorbet, any kind of salsa, and some awesome chocolate treats.  Other than that, I just use it to chop down nuts, fruit and other recipe that chopping is required.

    Tomato soup:

    • 3 tablespoons good olive oil
    • 1 1/2 cups chopped red onions (2 onions)
    • 2 carrots, unpeeled and chopped
    • 1 tablespoon minced garlic (3 cloves)
    • 4 pounds vine-ripened tomatoes, coarsely chopped (5 large)
    • 1 1/2 teaspoons sugar
    • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
    • 1/4 cup packed chopped fresh basil leaves, plus julienned basil leaves, for garnish
    • 3 cups chicken stock, preferably homemade
    • 1 tablespoon kosher salt
    • 2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper
    • 3/4 cup heavy cream
    • Croutons, for garnish

    Heat the olive oil in a large, heavy-bottomed pot over medium-low heat. Add the onions and carrots and saute for about 10 minutes, until very tender. Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute. Add the tomatoes, sugar, tomato paste, basil, chicken stock, salt, and pepper and stir well. Bring the soup to a boil, lower the heat, and simmer, uncovered, for 30 to 40 minutes, until the tomatoes are very tender.

     

    Add the cream to the soup and process it through a food processor. Reheat the soup over low heat just until hot and serve with julienned basil leaves and/or croutons.

     

    Chocolate treats

    • package of oreos
    • Brick of cream cheese
    • Chocolate fruit dip
    Mix oreos and cream cheese in food processor.  Teaspoon balls out onto a tray and place in fridge for 1/2 hour.  Coat them in dipping chocolate and cool.
     
    As for sorbet, I just freeze fruit and then put it in processor with a little fruit juice.
     
    Salsas I have made use tomatoes, jalapenos, mango, pineapple.  Pretty endless possibilities there.
