Moms-when the diaper leaks or they get sick in crib....

What do you do?

I have The Ultimate Crib sheet. Its a sheet that goes on top of the mattress with straps that snap onto crib rails.  If their diaper leaks or they get sick you just remove that rather then taking the entire crib apart. Its an awesome thing to have, except A has figured out how to unsnap the straps.  Is there anything else out there? What do you ladies do when something like this happens?

  • change the sheets and kid and put them back down.
  • i read somewhere (could have been here for all i know) that you have waterproof protector, sheet, waterproof protector, sheet and if kid makes a mess, strip first set off, and your are good to go.  not sure if taht is helpful or makes sense.

now that i think about it i feel like margie had posted that tip.....

sometimes all you really need in life is a pink wig.
  • I used the sheet protectors w/the ties that tie instaed of snap to the crib slats

    Basically this.

I have a mattress protector under her crib sheet but it doesnt attach or tie to anything. It just sits on top of the mattress and I pop a crib sheet over it.

  • I put the ultimate crib sheet between 2 layers of sheets and don't use the snaps at all.  A's bed is made in layers:  mattress pad/protector, sheet #1, ultimate crib sheet laid on top, then sheet #2.  When he's gotten sick in the middle of the night I just change him, rip off sheet #1 and the ultimate crib sheet throw them in the washer and put him back to bed.  This way I'm not fighting with the making the mattress at 3am!
  • I have a sheeet protector between the sheet and mattress pad.  If the sheet gets solied in the middle of the night, I just change out both the sheet and the protector.  Not a perfect system but, at least the mattress pad stays clean and dry.

I didn't think it up but, like JennyNel, that's what we do. Makes life easier- unless they vomit down the side of the bed. LOL
  • I have the ones that tie.. and I am so thankful for them. If I didn't have those I'd be changing sheets a few times a day.

I've heard some people do a few layers of sheet protector/sheet/sheet protector/sheet and then strip off as needed.

  • I never even thought of layering, but I've only had to change her bed in the middle of the night once when she threw up.  that will be a good tip for potty training though!!

I have a mattress (that itself can be wiped down), a mattress protector and sheet.
