Need ideas (food related)
We're having a couple of friends over tomorrow night for dinner and I'm completely drawing a blank on what to prepare. I need some ideas from you culinary queens. There aren't any dietary restrictions, so just feel free to suggest anything. Also, I do have a crock pot for those of you with recipes.
Apps? Dinner?
Why is this so hard? :-/ Thanks so much!

Re: Need ideas (food related)
Yay! I love food!
I am obsessed with spinach dip in a bread bowl right now, so that would be a nice app and it looks like it took a lot of time but is so easy. Here is the recipe I used: http://allrecipes.com//Recipe/best-spinach-dip-ever/Detail.aspx and I put mine in a Hawaiian bread bowl (King's Hawaiian Bread).
Hannah's gouda and apple stuffed porkchops are delish, recipe: http://allrecipes.com/PersonalRecipe/62515968/Gouda-and-Apple-Stuffed-Pork-Chops/Detail.aspx
This may be too much spinach but my friend just gave me this recipe last night and I am definitely going to make it next week: http://www.cooks.com/rec/view/0,1926,144184-226198,00.html
I made a really simple dinner a few weekends ago for my family and it was a big hit. I took boneless chicken breasts, cut them in half, and marinated them in a Brown Sugar Bourbon marinade (it was in with the seasoning packs at the grocery store), you could also just do BBQ sauce. Then I made some baked beans and a corn casserole/corn pudding which is just 1 box of Jiffy cornbread mix, 1 stick of melted butter, 1 can of cream corn, 1 can of regular corn (drained) and 1 cup (8oz) of sour cream (although I never include the sour cream). Mix it all together and bake it for 45-60 minutes (depending on how thick you make it) on 350 degrees. I also made a salad to go with the meal. It was like a BBQ joint type meal and they loved it.
If you are looking for appetizers, an easy one is queso dip. Just combine a half block of velveta cheese and 3/4 jar of salsa and heat it up either in a fondue pot or in the microwave for 5ish minutes, stirring on and off. It's delish, and I serve it with tortilla chips and/or different types of bread chunks that I slightly toasted in the oven.
Apps:
I agree with the dip in a bread bowl... I do a dill dip in sourdough or pumpernickel and it's always a huge hit.
These were a HUGE hit at my last family party
Entree:
A fresh salad to start
And this pork tenderloin is awesome.
Or you could just get a nice prime rib and bake it in the oven, stuffed with some garlic cloves. Or a roast.
This risotto is amazing, did it ahead for a family party and just reheated it in the oven covered. Everyone raved about it. If you can't find the mushrooms it calls for, which is a PITA, just get an assortment from the grocery store: baby bella, portobello, morels, etc.
Dessert:
This chocolate tart is always a major hit with anyone I give it to. And it's easy. Make it and throw it in the fridge. I use store-bought pie dough to cut down on the work.
Don't feel bad, Brooke! I'll be going through this same thing tomorrow!
Will it be formal, or super casual? Good friends, or new friends? Those things make a big difference
The friends we have coming over are the kind of friends that we don't even pick up the house for...and they do the same when we go to their house. So I can make chips and queso and something easy like burgers when friends like that come over.

It's casual and they are good friends. But this is the first time we are having people over since we got married and moved in to our new place. They always host us and have something great. She is an amazing cook, so I wanted to a do a little something with zazzle ya know?
Thanks for the ideas!

I love having people over to cook for! Depending on who it is I have 2 fall back meals!
London broil with a salad and baked potatoes
Chicken enchilada casserole with beans.
As for apps. I love Rotel dip, you cube up a block of velveta, brown a lb of ground beef/ ground turkey, drain meat and put back in pot with and cheese and 2 cans of RO*TEL (it's diced tomatoes and green chilies) and stir till the cheese is melted and blended in together well. serve with tortilla chips!
