Re: FuuckFuuckFuuck

  • I'm sorry. I totally understand. One job I interviewed for just never called me back and didn't return any follow up emails. The rejection sucks.Could he get a job at Home Depot or something just to supplement income in the meantime?

He's got some side work he's doing, like working on friends vehicles and other handy man type work. It's basically enough to keep gas in his truck and some extra money for whatever else, not contributing to the household bills or anything though. The problem with Ryan is he tends to get carried away when he gets involved in something so I'd like him to keep his schedule relatively clear so he can focus on looking for work.

I know the little bit of money is probably nice, but can he intern w/a really great company? When I quit my sales job I refused to sit around the house and wanted to make good use of my time. I did some volunteer/intern type marketing projects and that's how I got the contact for the guys work for now. It's a really tough market out there & I honestly think I might still be unemployed if I hadn't taken that extra step to get myself out there.

I'm so sorry. I know how stressful it can be.

  • I'm sorry. Fingers crossed he finds something soon.

  • I'm really sorry Britt. I know how stressful that can be. DH is the same way so I definitely sympathize. I think Christie's suggestion is a really good one. It would be a way to get his foot in the door and give him relevant experience to put on his resume in the meantime. I'll go ahead and follow-up with my dad to see if he ever heard anything after passing along his resume. He never mentioned anything so I assume he didn't but maybe if I mention it he'll ask around again.

Along these same lines, are there any additional licenses or certifications he can pursue with his time off?  I have no idea about the industry he's in, but I ended up getting a higher insurance license with time off that is pretty difficult to get.  Or at least it's difficult to pass the exam.  It would have been even harder to study if I was actually working a FT job.  Having the license contributed to me getting a big pay jump from my last job in addition to just getting a job.

Just trying to throw out ideas.  I hope this doesn't come off as lecturey because I don't mean it that way.

  • No not taking anything you say as offensive. It's extremely difficult to find an internship in his field for a graduate, he did briefly talk about getting his contractors license.

I'm going to give him a few days to be pissed off (if I say anything to him right now it will not be received well) and then we need to have a Come to Jesus talk about what he's going to do to further his career and/or contribute to the household.

  • I know the feeling.  When we first moved out here, DH had a rough time of it as the trailing spouse looking for a job.  We had several "come to jesus" conversations in the span of a few months.
  • I'm sorry Britt.  That must be extremely frustrating to both you and DH!  I hope another possible job offer comes up for DH really soon.
