Hi, I close on my new house this afternoon and I was curious as to what cleaners I should bring. I bought a bunch already but feel like im forgetting something.
there is not a single carpet in the place so theres hardwood and some tile i need to clean. the bathroom is pretty much disgusting, well the bathTUB i should say. the house has well water and since my house is a forclosure nobody has lived there since last august and the water is a deep rust color. that will get serviced and the filters hooked up but i still need to get rid of the awful stains. i have some disinfectant and bleach. a broom and spongemop....bathroom cleaner spray, windex...Trash bags and a scrubber brush...what else can you ladies think of? the house is filthy but has so much potential. luckily i have brothers, sisters, parents and cousins all willing to help clean & paint
Re: new home cleaning supplies!
The majority of our house is HW floors also; but, I think it is wise to have a vaccum. I use the hose/"rod" attachment to suck up hair/dust along the baseboards (we have dogs). It's just easier sometimes to run the vaccum over the floors though...just my opinion...
Take sponges, papertowels and old rags. No need to not be prepared! Toilet brush... broom and/or dust mop. I typically clean our floors on my hands and knees w/several rags and the cleaner but if you don't do that, get a good sponge mop w/a "scrubby" side :-)
Have fun and congratulations on the new house!
COMET works so nicely for tub stains, we have an old porcelain tub that stains super easy, and after an "oh crap" moment with hair dye I became very well acquainted with comet and it's wonderful powers! magic erasers are pretty fabulous too.
We just got this rubbermaid mop / broom thingy, it has interchangable microfiber pads, one for "sweeping" and one for mopping. It also has a sprayer on it that you can fill with whatever solution you want (vinegar andwater, murphys oil soap etc). I LOVE IT. It's like a swiffer, but it works WAY better, and was only $20 with a wet and a dry mop pad. And you can wash the pads, so you don't have to constantly buy them like you do with swiffer.
