I am bored and feel like crap today. I cant even drag my a$$ off the chair.
Every area of town has a "hidden gem" restaurant that you would never think of going into but has the BEST food. Since I find myself driving back to s. tpa often for lunch I want to see what I am missing in other areas (even my own.. Riverview)
Share yours. It does not have to be in your area, just some place you know about.
Schillers German Delicatessen- On the corner of El Prado and Manhattan (just north of Gandy) There is nothing in this place that I would not eat, the food is awesome. Family owned and operated. Imported German beers and food.
Chubby's- on Bayshore. Best cheese steak.
Re: Food poll-ish...
El Tapatio - the one and only restaurant in the town that I live in. It's a little hole in the wall Mexican restaurant but OMG the food is amazing. I am pretty sure I don't want to see what the kitchen looks like.....
But I have a feeling this poll really doesn't pertain to me :P
Baby Macy is here!
12/09 - Macy (daughter) | 4/10 - Began TTC Baby #2 | 12/10 - Chemical Pregnancy | 1/12 - Miscarriage at 14 weeks | DX - PCOS & Hyperthyroidism
I need to watch this poll, I am so bad about trying new places, especially smaller places. I am such a picky pony when it comes to food.
The best I can come up w/ is Rigatoni's (on Kennedy) - I dont think it's a hidden gem, but it is a family place, not a chain. We really liked it

I drive by this place all the time and think "I should try that place one day." I've heard it's good from one of my H's college roommates from Germany! I really need to try it!
If anyone is ever up in Hernando county there are a few good places. Red Mule in Brooksville has the BEST sandwiches. Mykonos also in Brooksvill has great greek salads, black beans and rice and cubans. YUM!! Coney Island has really good hotdogs, but, it is also in Brooksville.
In Seminole there is this little family owned diner that has the best food. It is Suzie Q's and I absolutely love their biscuits and gravy. I have to admit, they are not the healthiest, but everything is truely delicious.
In downtown Gulfport there is a little Italian place called Pia's that has the best Italian food. It can be pricey, but it is worth it!
My H goes to Red Mule all of the time with his work guys. They all love it. But I have never gone. I do like Mykonos! We haven't been to Coney Island.
In Tampa off of Franklin (on the north side of 275) is Cafe Hey. They have great soups, sandwiches, salads and a huge tea and coffee menu.
Ybor - The Bricks.

OMG Jenn you do drive by it all the time. Go in there. It is awesome food and great people. I get there #1 Schiller sandwich- German ham, swiss cheese, mustard and cole slaw on rye .. so yummy
In St Pete we go to Red Mesa Cantina downtown for happy hour before the 7pm Rays games. They have $3 margaritas and sangrias, and their food is so good! I love all the different ceviches. I get the mix and match 4 for $20. It is worth every penny.
In Tampa I love Sukhothai on Dale Mabry and Waters. They know me well!
I have a friend who is coowner of Grill 54 on Sheldon (there is one in Trinity but Sheldon is my hood). Perfect sushi!
I think there is one in Ybor as well, I believe I have one of those restaurant dot com gift cards to the place.. your post makes me excited to try it out soon!
