  • college isn't for everyone, and you are awesome for buying your own house at age 24 on your own!!

I was surprised to see how many nesties are actually using their degrees.

woo hoo!  good for you!  It is a great feeling to be able to buy a house on your own.  I did the same at 27, when I was a single mom.
  • Don't feel bad Dee,  I didn't answer the poll because I didn't really go to college either. I wanted to go to Salve, dad didn't want to spend $30K a year. So I went to RIC and hated it. Dropped out and eventually went to Katharine Gibbs.

But you did amazing having been able to buy your own house. You go girl!! :)

  • I wasn't "arrested" but I was caught shoplifting a jumbo box of rainbow condoms on a dare in eighth grade...  scared the crap out of me and never did anything like it again!
  • oh, and by the way, i was mostly interested about where everyone was from geographically and if many people left the state they grew up in for college.  my students are so afraid to think outside the state and it got me wondering.
  • no worries amy!!! like kelly said, college is not for everyone and it certainly wasn't for me at the time. i honestly cant say if i would of done things different if i had the chance....

    :)

most of my family is still this way, they all live in a few neighboring towns in massachusetts. i was all about an out of state school because i wanted (and needed!) to live my own life. i love my family but living near them would drive me to the brink of insanity.

I was surprised at the number of people w/ degrees from RI public universities. But that makes sense. Way more than half of the undergrads at URI and RIC are from Rhode Island.
