Work vent
Ok, I am in grad school to be an Educational Diagnostician. That's the official title. This position means testing all special education students to determine eligibilty for services etc. (this is necessary for the story)
So, the lady that holds that position on my campus is old and ignorant. She can not keep up with dates to save her life. In case you didn't know, dates are a really big deal in SPED - as in legal and if you don't abide by them, you are looking at a lawsuit and revocation of your teaching license/certification.
I'm sorry this is going to be long......
So, I get an email late last night from my diag. who notices an evaluation plan (read legal requirement) wasn't done on a student last year (her fault) and we need to do a meeting for him next week. Next week is the week before 5th grade TAKS (state testing). I have EIGHT other meetings already.
To save you all from boredom....she refuses to come to my room to write down the calendar of dates (all SPED staff but her does). She messes up all the time. She was fired from another district a hundred years ago. I have no idea how she hasn't had a lawsuit against her for non-comliance and yet she's still here.
I should mention I make her cry on a weekly basis because I refuse to accept responsibility for her mistakes and tell her that. I'm just so over her.
She is supposed to retire in December. I'm hoping I make it that long without strangling her out of frustration. I also hope they hire me to fill it. FML

Sorry you have to deal with this crap. It's such BS! And kudos for not strangling her... but if you decide you really want to, drag her to NJ to do it. I'm not admitted in TX but I'd happily defend you here.
