How much of your house do you actually use?
After the responses below related to house size...I am curious. Despite being initially quite frustrated and distraught over the renos, I love our house but we don't use even half of it.

At my parents' house [close to 2000 sq. ft.], we use every inch but the upstairs spare room/entertainment room. But my dad's turning that into a "Man Cave" when he gets back from Afghanistan, so that will be used, too.
At my apartment [1100 sq. ft.], JJ and I use everything but what used to be my sister's bedroom. I'm turning that into a craft room soon though, so I'll get some use out of that room. Finally. We have a huge, open living room, so that's where we spend most of our time.

It seems like we really only use 3 rooms of our house on a regular basis. We may have "stuff" sprawled out everywhere, but as for actual daily use, we really don't use a lot of our house.
These rotating icons next to our names need to stop! Apparently I am now a dark-skinned pregnant lady. Dark skin is fine, but there is NO bun in this oven!!!!
I was the one with the most square footage (desired)... lol, I don't use EVERY square inch of my home (2000) right now but it all serves a purpose. The extra 3 bedrooms serve as guests/office space.
I want a bigger house in future (way down the road) for expansion, offices for both of us, family, and possible kids.

We don't really use the eat-in portion of our kitchen too often, nor do we use the dining room much (but it's connected to the living room so it's kind of like we use it lol). The garage stores tools, 4 wheeler, and riding mower so it gets used as well. I really like the size of our house, I think it's plenty of space and if we had a bigger place I wouldn't want all that extra cleaning!
My ideal house size of around 3000 sq feet also ideally comes with a housekeeper.
Our rental is about 1250 and is 3 bed, 2 bath. We would be just fine eliminating a bedroom by combining DH's office and the guest bedroom. We each use a bathroom.
Our current house is about 1500 sq. ft. plus a patio room and we definitely use all of it (though we really only use the patio room for storage). We spend a lot of time in our living room, especially since I SAH and we homeschool DD, and we eat dinner together at the kitchen table every night.
Assuming we actually get our house on the market soon and it doesn't take a million years to sell, we will be moving into about 2300 sq. ft. Since a lot of the extra square footage is in the laundry room and kitchen, I think we will definitely get a lot of use out of it. The rest of it is in a formal living/dining room, which we plan to have set up as a hangout space that will seat a lot of people for when we have company or possibly extended family holiday gatherings.
Our house is 2000 sq ft. We use some of it, but we bought to grow into. We outgrew the apartment that I was in when we got married and this was the next step.
We use the master bedroom, bathroom, and closet; kitchen, living room. One of the rooms will be the baby's room. We have a guest room that is used for guests and when one of us wants to sleep in another room (sick, can't sleep, etc). Out dining room doesn't get a lot of action, but it was a weird requirement in our house. I like formal dining rooms. The study gets used moderately. We have a loveseat with ottoman and TV in there that we use sometimes, but not too often.
My ideal house has an extra bathroom or half bath. This is so there is something 'nice' for guests and I don't have to worry about what the kid's bathroom looks like. It also has an extra room like a play room, preferably on another story. I grew up north with basements and loved having my own space to play in. That's really all I want in a house.
our house is 1,300 sq. ft. and we use almost all of it. It's 2 car garage, 3 bedroom, 2 bath. DH and I use both bathrooms daily, and of course the mater bedroom. We both love to cook, so the kitchen is the 3rd most used room only below the living room and our master bedroom. One of the bedrooms has been turned into an office that we share. Someday I would like a house where we each have an office. The other bedroom gets the least amount of use. It's a guest room/cat room. It holds things, so I guess it's getting used. The cat thinks it's her room, so I guess I can say we use every sq. in.
In our future house I want a kitchen as big if not bigger than our master bedroom. I have lots of big things and since we both love to cook, we need our kitchen to be it's own room. I want the dinning room and living room separate from the kitchen so cooking, washing dishes, etc. doesn't disturb anyone in the living room. Ideally 5 bedrooms with 3 baths: master bedroom and bath, office for me, office for DH, bathroom for guests, bathroom for kids, bedroom for kid 1, bedroom for kid 2.
Our house is 2400SF. We have an open plan for the kitchen, dining room, and family room and use those a lot. The "living room" has a pool table and flat screen in it... We never hang out in there. DH uses his man room from time to time. We have four bedrooms, one of which is my craft/office but it's not very functional so I don't use it often. The other two guestrooms (and extra 1 1/2 baths) will come in really handy when DH's family comes to visit this weekend, but otherwise they go very much unused.
The only reason I think we would need more space is because when we have kids, I would want them to have a place to play. We talked the other day about enclosing our covered porch and making it a 4-season sun room.... Might be a fun place for kids to play, who knows. Guess I'll cross that bridge when I get there.
I am LOLing at this because - I also grew up in a large house FULL of crap. FULL OF CRAP. I haven't been to my parents house in years because I can't deal with it. It isn't hoarding - just furniture everywhere - knick knacks everyone - the walls covered with the most random stuff.
DH and my house has very minimal stuff - we have furniture, obviously, but even our furniture is quite small (pretty European) and we almost zero knick knacks. Our office does have a lot of "stuff" but given my professional I can't help but have lots of office supplies and paper everywhere - it stresses me out though. We have some stuff on the walls but I have given a lot of thought as to what we are putting where. I love my parents but damn! I don't know how they live with all that sh!t!

I hope to move into a larger home before we add an additional kid(s) so that we can have an upstairs room to keep all of the toys... Our daughter isn't even 3 months yet and toys seem to be occupying more space in our living room every time I turn around!
Our front bathroom is always clean for guest to use and I rarely invite people to use my master bathroom, it's mine and DH's and for some reason I view it as a private place for only us, kind of like our bedroom.
Second bedroom is Brynnleigh's room and the third is an "office" but really it stores our bikes and random pieces of "business" stuff.
That's how my parents are. If they buy new end tables, for example, instead of getting rid of the old ones, they'll just "find a place" for them. Mom is also the queen of collections and "themed" rooms (e.g., a chili pepper themed kitchen or "USA" themed bathroom) which get out of hand quickly.
In fact, when they last came to visit, my mom offered to buy me a ton of decorative stuff. I was grateful, but I had to reign her in a lot because, 1., I'm really picky and 2., I just don't want all that much stuff!
